Actes des Apôtres, 14

1. A Iconium, il arriva que Paul et Barnabé entrèrent pareillement dans la synagogue des Juifs et (y) parlèrent de telle sorte qu'une grande multitude de Juifs et de Grecs crurent.

1. In Iconium they entered the Jewish synagogue together and spoke in such a way that a great number of both Jews and Greeks came to believe,

2. Mais les Juifs qui n'avaient pas cru excitèrent et indisposèrent les esprits des Gentils contre les frères.

2. although the disbelieving Jews stirred up and poisoned the minds of the Gentiles against the brothers.

3. Ils firent néanmoins un assez long séjour, s'appuyant avec assurance sur le Seigneur, qui rendait témoignage à la parole de sa grâce par les miracles et les prodiges qu'il leur donnait de faire.

3. So they stayed for a considerable period, speaking out boldly for the Lord, who confirmed the word about his grace by granting signs and wonders to occur through their hands.

4. Or la population de la ville se divisa : les uns étaient pour les Juifs, et les autres pour les apôtres.

4. The people of the city were divided: some were with the Jews; others, with the apostles.

5. Mais comme il y eut un soulèvement des Gentils et des Juifs avec leurs chefs, pour les outrager et les lapider,

5. When there was an attempt by both the Gentiles and the Jews, together with their leaders, to attack and stone them,

6. (les apôtres), s'en étant aperçus, se réfugièrent dans les villes de la Lycaonie, Lystres et Derbé, et le pays d'alentour,

6. they realized it and fled to the Lycaonian cities of Lystra and Derbe and to the surrounding countryside,

7. et ils y annonçaient la bonne nouvelle.

7. where they continued to proclaim the good news.

8. (Il y avait) à Lystres un homme impotent des pieds, qui se tenait assis, étant perclus de naissance, et qui n'avait jamais marché.

8. At Lystra there was a crippled man, lame from birth, who had never walked.

9. Il écoutait Paul parler. Celui-ci, ayant arrêté les yeux sur lui et voyant qu'il avait la foi pour être guéri, dit d'une voix forte :

9. He listened to Paul speaking, who looked intently at him, saw that he had the faith to be healed,

10. " Lève-toi droit sur tes pieds ! " Et il bondit, et il marchait.

10. and called out in a loud voice, "Stand up straight on your feet." He jumped up and began to walk about.

11. A la vue de ce que Paul venait de faire, la foule éleva la voix, disant en lycaonien : " Les dieux sous une forme humaine sont descendus vers nous. "

11. When the crowds saw what Paul had done, they cried out in Lycaonian, "The gods have come down to us in human form."

12. Et ils appelaient Barnabé Zeus, et Paul Hermès, parce que c'était lui qui portait la parole.

12. They called Barnabas "Zeus" and Paul "Hermes," because he was the chief speaker.

13. Et le prêtre de Zeus "protecteur de la ville" amena devant les portes des taureaux avec des guirlandes, et il voulait, ainsi que la foule, offrir un sacrifice.

13. And the priest of Zeus, whose temple was at the entrance to the city, brought oxen and garlands to the gates, for he together with the people intended to offer sacrifice.

14. Mais les apôtres Paul et Barnabé, l'ayant appris, déchirèrent leurs vêtements et se précipitèrent vers la foule, criant et disant :

14. The apostles Barnabas and Paul tore their garments when they heard this and rushed out into the crowd, shouting,

15. " O hommes, pourquoi faites-vous cela? Nous aussi, nous sommes des hommes de même nature que vous, qui vous prêchons de laisser ces riens pour vous tourner vers un Dieu vivant, qui a fait le ciel et la terre et la mer, et tout ce qu'ils renferment.

15. "Men, why are you doing this? We are of the same nature as you, human beings. We proclaim to you good news that you should turn from these idols to the living God, 'who made heaven and earth and sea and all that is in them.'

16. Ce (Dieu), dans les siècles passés, a laissé toutes les nations suivre leurs voies,

16. In past generations he allowed all Gentiles to go their own ways;

17. sans que toutefois il ait omis de se rendre témoignage à lui-même, faisant du bien, vous dispensant du ciel les pluies et les saisons fécondes en fruits, remplissant vos c?urs de nourriture et de joie. "

17. yet, in bestowing his goodness, he did not leave himself without witness, for he gave you rains from heaven and fruitful seasons, and filled you with nourishment and gladness for your hearts."

18. Et par ces paroles, ils empêchèrent non sans peine la foule de leur offrir un sacrifice.

18. Even with these words, they scarcely restrained the crowds from offering sacrifice to them.

19. Or survinrent d'Antioche et d'Iconium des Juifs qui, ayant gagné la foule, lapidèrent Paul et le traînèrent hors de la ville, pensant qu'il était mort.

19. However, some Jews from Antioch and Iconium arrived and won over the crowds. They stoned Paul and dragged him out of the city, supposing that he was dead.

20. Mais les disciples l'ayant entouré, il se releva et rentra dans la ville. Le lendemain, il partit pour Derbé avec Barnabé.

20. But when the disciples gathered around him, he got up and entered the city. On the following day he left with Barnabas for Derbe.

21. Quand ils eurent évangélisé cette ville et fait un assez grand nombre de disciples, ils retournèrent à Lystres, à Iconium et à Antioche,

21. After they had proclaimed the good news to that city and made a considerable number of disciples, they returned to Lystra and to Iconium and to Antioch.

22. affermissant l'âme des disciples, les exhortant à persévérer dans la foi et (disant) que c'est par beaucoup de tribulations qu'il nous faut entrer dans le royaume de Dieu.

22. They strengthened the spirits of the disciples and exhorted them to persevere in the faith, saying, "It is necessary for us to undergo many hardships to enter the kingdom of God."

23. Après leur avoir établi des Anciens dans chaque église par imposition des mains, après avoir prié et jeûné, ils les recommandèrent au Seigneur, en qui ils avaient cru.

23. They appointed presbyters for them in each church and, with prayer and fasting, commended them to the Lord in whom they had put their faith.

24. Traversant ensuite la Pisidie, ils vinrent en Pamphylie,

24. Then they traveled through Pisidia and reached Pamphylia.

25. et après avoir annoncé la parole (de Dieu) à Pergé, ils descendirent à Attalie;

25. After proclaiming the word at Perga they went down to Attalia.

26. puis de là ils firent voile pour Antioche, d'où ils avaient été remis à la grâce de Dieu pour l'?uvre qu'ils venaient d'accomplir.

26. From there they sailed to Antioch, where they had been commended to the grace of God for the work they had now accomplished.

27. Après leur arrivée, ils assemblèrent la communauté et racontèrent tout ce que Dieu avait fait avec eux, et comment il avait ouvert aux Gentils la porte de la foi.

27. And when they arrived, they called the church together and reported what God had done with them and how he had opened the door of faith to the Gentiles.

28. Et ils demeurèrent assez longtemps avec les disciples.

28. Then they spent no little time with the disciples.
