The new covenant is governed by the Spirit, while the old covenant was governed by the letter of the law.
Jeremiah 31:31: "Time is coming," says the Lord, "when I will make a new covenant with the community of Israel and the community of Judah." This verse is quoted in Hebrews 8:8-12 to show that the new covenant established by Jesus Christ was prophesied by the prophet Jeremiah. This new covenant is superior to the old covenant established with Israel.

God's law is no longer written on stone boards, but it is written in the hearts of believers.

Hebrews 9:15: "Therefore Christ is the mediator of a new covenant so that those who are called receive the promise of eternal inheritance, since he died as a rescue by transgressions committed under the first covenant." This verse points out that the death of Jesus Christ was the price paid to establish the new covenant and fulfill divine promises. Through it, those who are called can receive the promise of eternal inheritance.
