Jeremiah 36 narrates the time when the Lord commanded Jeremiah to write all the words He had spoken against Israel and Judah in a roll and read it aloud to the people in the temple. Proverbs 29:1: "The man who, once rebuked, harden the cervix will be broken suddenly, without healing." King Jehokim was rebuked by the words of the roll, but he hardened his heart and was broken.

Hebrews 4:12: "For the Word of God is alive and effective, and more sharply than any two -edged sword, and penetrates to the division of soul and spirit, and from joints and marrows, and is able to discern thoughts, and heart intentions. " The roll with the words of God was powerful and able to discern the thoughts and intentions of the hearts of the people.
