Job, 27
1. Moreover Job continued his parable, and said,
1. Job jatkoi lausuen julki mietelmiään ja sanoi:
2. [As] God liveth, [who] hath taken away my judgment; and the Almighty, [who] hath vexed my soul;
2. "Niin totta kuin Jumala elää, joka on ottanut minulta oikeuteni, ja Kaikkivaltias, joka on sieluni murehuttanut:
3. All the while my breath [is] in me, and the spirit of God [is] in my nostrils;
3. niin kauan kuin minussa vielä henkeä on ja Jumalan henkäystä sieraimissani,
4. My lips shall not speak wickedness, nor my tongue utter deceit.
4. eivät minun huuleni puhu petosta, eikä kieleni vilppiä lausu.
5. God forbid that I should justify you: till I die I will not remove mine integrity from me.
5. Pois se! En myönnä teidän oikeassa olevan. Siihen asti kunnes henkeni heitän, en luovu hurskaudestani.
6. My righteousness I hold fast, and will not let it go: my heart shall not reproach [me] so long as I live.
6. Minä pidän kiinni vanhurskaudestani, en hellitä; yhdestäkään elämäni päivästä omatuntoni ei minua soimaa.
7. Let mine enemy be as the wicked, and he that riseth up against me as the unrighteous.
7. Käyköön viholliseni niinkuin jumalattoman ja vastustajani niinkuin väärän.
8. For what [is] the hope of the hypocrite, though he hath gained, when God taketh away his soul?
8. Mitä toivoa on riettaalla, kun Jumala katkaisee hänen elämänsä, kun hän tempaa pois hänen sielunsa?
9. Will God hear his cry when trouble cometh upon him?
9. Kuuleeko Jumala hänen huutonsa, kun ahdistus häntä kohtaa?
10. Will he delight himself in the Almighty? will he always call upon God?
10. Tahi saattaako hän iloita Kaikkivaltiaasta, huutaa Jumalaa joka aika?
11. I will teach you by the hand of God: [that] which [is] with the Almighty will I not conceal.
11. Minä opetan teille, mitä tekee Jumalan käsi; en salaa, mitä Kaikkivaltiaalla on mielessä.
12. Behold, all ye yourselves have seen [it]; why then are ye thus altogether vain?
12. Katso, itse olette kaikki sen nähneet; miksi te turhia kuvittelette?
13. This [is] the portion of a wicked man with God, and the heritage of oppressors, [which] they shall receive of the Almighty.
13. Tämä on jumalattoman ihmisen osa, Jumalan varaama, tämä on perintöosa, jonka väkivaltaiset Kaikkivaltiaalta saavat.
14. If his children be multiplied, [it is] for the sword: and his offspring shall not be satisfied with bread.
14. Jos hänellä on paljonkin lapsia, ovat ne miekan omia; eikä hänen jälkeläisillään ole leipää ravinnoksi.
15. Those that remain of him shall be buried in death: and his widows shall not weep.
15. Jotka häneltä jäävät, ne saattaa rutto hautaan, eivätkä hänen leskensä pidä itkiäisiä.
16. Though he heap up silver as the dust, and prepare raiment as the clay;
16. Jos hän kokoaa hopeata kuin multaa ja kasaa vaatteita kuin savea,
17. He may prepare [it], but the just shall put [it] on, and the innocent shall divide the silver.
17. kasatkoon: vanhurskas pukee ne päällensä, ja viaton perii hopean.
18. He buildeth his house as a moth, and as a booth [that] the keeper maketh.
18. Hän rakentaa talonsa niinkuin kointoukka, se on kuin suojus, jonka vartija kyhää.
19. The rich man shall lie down, but he shall not be gathered: he openeth his eyes, and he [is] not.
19. Rikkaana hän menee levolle: 'Ei häviä mitään'; hän avaa silmänsä, ja kaikki on mennyttä.
20. Terrors take hold on him as waters, a tempest stealeth him away in the night.
20. Kauhut yllättävät hänet kuin tulvavedet, yöllä tempaa hänet mukaansa rajuilma.
21. The east wind carrieth him away, and he departeth: and as a storm hurleth him out of his place.
21. Itätuuli vie hänet, niin että hän menee menojaan, ja puhaltaa hänet pois paikaltansa.
22. For [God] shall cast upon him, and not spare: he would fain flee out of his hand.
22. Jumala ampuu häneen nuolensa säälimättä; hänen täytyy paeta hänen kättänsä, minkä voi.
23. [Men] shall clap their hands at him, and shall hiss him out of his place.
23. Silloin paukutetaan hänelle kämmeniä ja vihelletään hänelle hänen asuinpaikaltansa."
