1 Maccabees 9 describes the war between the armies of Judas Macabeu and Baquids, General of the Seleucid King. The chapter begins with a description of the Backet Strategy to attack Judas and his men, followed by a battle that occurs on a mountainous slope. Judas manages to repel the attack, but Báquids continues to chase him with his soldiers. Below are five verses related to the topics covered in 1 Maccabees 9:
2 Samuel 2:26: "Then Abner called Joab and said," Will the sword happen to devour indefinitely? Don't you know that in the end there will be bitterness?
