1 Maccabees, 3

56. Then he told those who were building houses, those about to marry, those who were planting vineyards, and those who were afraid, to return to their homes, as the Law allowed.

1 Maccabees 3 narrates Judas Macabeu's first victories against the Greek forces, who tried to impose their culture and religion on the Jewish people. The chapter describes the Judas Army organization and its battle strategies. Next are five verses related to the topics addressed in 1 Maccabees 3:

Deuteronomy 20:4: "For the Lord, your God, will accompany you and fight for you against your enemies to give you victory." This verse talks about divine aid in the struggle against enemies and shows the importance of faith in God in times of war.
