6. The Ammonites saw that they had made David their enemy and so Hanun and the Ammonites sent a thousand talents of silver to hire chariots and charioteers from the Aramaeans of Upper Mesopotamia, of Maacah and of Zobah.

1 Chronicles 19 tells the history of war between David and the Ammonites. The chapter begins with David showing goodness to Hanum, son of the ammonite king, but Hanum insults him and humiliates him, which leads to war between the two peoples. Deuteronomy 20:4 - "For the Lord, your God, is what goes with you, to fight against your enemies to save you." This verse shows that David knew that God was with him in the battle against the Ammonites, and that gave him confidence to fight.

2 Corinthians 10:3-4 - "For though we walk in the flesh, we do not militate according to the flesh, because the weapons of our militia are not carnal, but powerful in God, to destroy the fortresses." This verse shows that David trusted God and his spiritual weapons to fight the ammonites, not in his own skills or physical strength.
