Hosea, 9

6. For, behold, they have been sent away by devastation. Egypt will gather them together; Memphis will bury them. Nettles will inherit their desired silver; the burr will be in their tabernacles.

Hosea Chapter 9 deals with the imminent punishment that God will bring about the people of Israel because of their sins and infidelity. Israel had become a rotten fruit, and God would reject them and leave them alone. Following are five selected verses from other parts of the Bible that address topics related to this chapter:

Jeremiah 17:10: "I, the Lord, squad my heart, I prove the thoughts; and this to give each one according to his ways, according to the fruit of his works." This verse talks about God's righteousness and how he judges each one according to his works, a theme present in Hosea 9.

Proverbs 1:31: "Therefore, they will eat the fruit of their way, and shall be bound of their own advice." This verse highlights how the choices and actions of the people of Israel have resulted in their own destruction.

Jeremiah 2:19: "Your own malice shall punish you, and your apostasies will rebuke you; you know, and see, that evil and how bitter is the Lord, your God, and do not have my fear in you, says The Lord, the god of armies.
