Isaïe, 19

1. Oracle sur l'Égypte. Voici que Yahweh, porté sur une nuée légère, entre en Égypte ; les idoles de l'Egypte tremblent en sa présence, et le coeur de l'Égypte se fond au dedans d'elle.

1. Oracle on Egypt: See, the LORD is riding on a swift cloud on his way to Egypt; The idols of Egypt tremble before him, the hearts of the Egyptians melt within them.

2. Je pousserai l'Egypte contre l'Égypte, et ils se battront frère contre frère, ami contre ami, ville contre ville, royaume contre royaume.

2. I will rouse Egypt against Egypt: brother will war against brother, Neighbor against neighbor, city against city, kingdom against kindgom.

3. L'esprit de l'Egypte s'évanouira en elle, et j'anéantirai son conseil ; Ils interrogeront les idoles et les enchanteurs; les nécromanciens et les devins.

3. The courage of the Egyptians ebbs away within them, and I will bring to nought their counsel; They shall consult idols and charmers, ghosts and spirits.

4. Je livrerai l'Égypte entre les mains d'un maître dur, et un roi redoutable dominera sur eux, -oracle du Seigneur, Yahweh des armées.

4. I will deliver Egypt into the power of a cruel master, A harsh king who shall rule over them, says the Lord, the LORD of hosts.

5. Les eaux de la mer tariront, le fleuve s'épuisera et se desséchera.

5. The waters shall be drained from the sea, the river shall shrivel and dry up;

6. Les rivières deviendront infectes ; les canaux d'Égypte baisseront et se dessécheront; les joncs et les roseaux se flétriront.

6. Its streams shall become foul, and the canals of Egypt shall dwindle and dry up. Reeds and rushes shall wither away,

7. Les prairies le long du Nil, sur les bords du Nil, tous les champs ensemencés le long du Nil, sécheront, s'évanouiront, et il n'y en aura plus.

7. and bulrushes on the bank of the Nile; All the sown land along the Nile shall dry up and blow away, and be no more.

8. Les pêcheurs gémiront et se lamenteront, tous ceux qui jettent l'hameçon dans le fleuve; ceux qui tendent le filet sur la face des eaux seront désolés.

8. The fishermen shall mourn and lament, all who cast hook in the Nile; Those who spread their nets in the water shall pine away.

9. Ceux qui travaillent le lin peigné, et ceux qui tissent le coton seront consternés.

9. The linen-workers shall be disappointed, the combers and weavers shall turn pale;

10. Les colonnes de l'Egypte seront brisées, tous les artisans seront dans l'abattement.

10. The spinners shall be crushed, all the hired laborers shall be despondent.

11. Les princes de Tanis ne sont que des insensés; des sages conseillers de Pharaon les conseils sont stupides. Comment osez-vous dire à Pharaon: "Je suis fils des sages, fils des rois antiques ?"

11. Utter fools are the princes of Zoan! the wisest of Pharaoh's advisers give stupid counsel. How can you say to Pharaoh, "I am a disciple of wise men, of ancient kings"?

12. Où sont-ils, tes sages? Qu'ils t'annoncent donc, qu'ils devinent ce que Yahweh des armées a décrété contre l'Égypte!

12. Where then are your wise men? Let them tell you and make known What the LORD of hosts has planned against Egypt.

13. Les princes de Tanis ont perdu le sens, les princes de Memphis sont dans l'illusion ; ils égarent I'Egypte, eux, la pierre angulaire de ses castes.

13. The princes of Zoan have become fools, the princes of Memphis have been deceived. The chiefs of her tribes have led Egypt astray.

14. Yahweh a répandu au milieu d'elle un esprit de vertige, et ils font errer l'Egypte dans tout ce qu'elle fait, comme erre un homme ivre dans son vomissement.

14. The LORD has prepared among them a spirit of dizziness, And they have made Egypt stagger in whatever she does, as a drunkard staggers in his vomit.

15. Et il n'y aura aucune oeuvre qui profite à l'Égypte, de tout ce que pourra faire la tête ou la queue, la palme ou le jonc.

15. Egypt shall have no work to do for head or tail, palm branch or reed.

16. En ce jour-là, l'Egypte sera comme les femmes: elle tremblera et s'épouvantera en voyant se lever la main de Yahweh des armées; qu'il lève contre elle.

16. On that day the Egyptians shall be like women, trembling with fear, because of the LORD of hosts shaking his fist at them.

17. Et le pays de Juda sera pour l'Égypte un sujet de terreur; chaque fois qu'on le lui rappellera, elle tremblera, à cause de l'arrêt de Yahweh des armées, qu'il a porté contre elle.

17. And the land of Judah shall be a terror to the Egyptians. Every time they remember Judah, they shall stand in dread because of the plan which the LORD of hosts has in mind for them.

18. En ce jour-là, il y aura cinq villes sur la terre d'Egypte, qui parleront la langue de Chanan, et qui prêteront serment à Yahweh des armées; l'une d'elles s'appellera Ville du Soleil.

18. On that day there shall be five cities in the land of Egypt speaking the language of Canaan and swearing by the LORD of hosts; one shall be called "City of the Sun."

19. En ce jour-là, il y aura un autel pour Yahweh au milieu du pays d'Égypte, et près de la frontière une stèle pour Yahweh.

19. On that day there shall be an altar to the LORD in the land of Egypt, and a sacred pillar to the LORD near the boundary.

20. Et ce sera pour Yahweh des armées un signal, et un témoignage sur la terre d'Égypte ; quand ils crieront vers Yahweh, à cause des oppresseurs, il leur enverra un sauveur et un champion pour les délivrer.

20. It shall be a sign and a witness to the LORD of hosts in the land of Egypt, when they cry out to the LORD against their oppressors, and he sends them a savior to defend and deliver them.

21. Yahweh se fera connaître de I'Egypte, et l'Égypte connaîtra Yahweh, en ce jour-là; ils feront des sacrifices et des offrandes; ils feront des voeux à Yahweh et les accompliront.

21. The LORD shall make himself known to Egypt, and the Egyptians shall know the LORD in that day; they shall offer sacrifices and oblations, and fulfill the vows they make to the LORD.

22. Yahweh frappera l'Égypte, frappant et guérissant. Ils se convertiront à Yahweh, et il se laissera fléchir par eux et les guérira.

22. Although the LORD shall smite Egypt severely, he shall heal them; they shall turn to the LORD and he shall be won over and heal them.

23. En ce jour-là, il y aura une route d'Égypte en Assyrie ; l'Assyrien viendra en Egypte, et l'Égyptien ira en Assyrie, et l'Égypte servira Yahweh avec Assur.

23. On that day there shall be a highway from Egypt to Assyria; the Assyrians shall enter Egypt, and the Egyptians enter Assyria, and Egypt shall serve Assyria.

24. En ce jour-là, Israël s'unira, lui troisième, à l'Egypte et à l'Assyrie, pour être une bénédiction au milieu de la terre.

24. On that day Israel shall be a third party with Egypt and Assyria, a blessing in the midst of the land,

25. Yahweh des armées les bénira en disant: "Bénis soient l'Égypte, mon peuple, et Assur, l'ouvrage de mes mains, et Israël, mon héritage!"

25. when the LORD of hosts blesses it: "Blessed be my people Egypt, and the work of my hands Assyria, and my inheritance, Israel."
