Ezekiel, 29

1. In the tenth year, on the twelfth day of the tenth month, the word of Yahweh was addressed to me as follows,

1. Am zwölften Tag des zehnten Monats im zehnten Jahr erging das Wort des Herrn an mich:

2. 'Son of man, turn towards Pharaoh king of Egypt and prophesy against him and against the whole of Egypt.

2. Menschensohn, richte dein Gesicht auf den Pharao, den König von Ägypten, tritt als Prophet auf gegen ihn und gegen ganz Ägypten

3. Speak and say, "The Lord Yahweh says this: Look, I am against you, Pharaoh king of Egypt- the great crocodile wallowing in his Niles who thought: My Nile is mine, I made it.

3. und sag: So spricht Gott, der Herr: Jetzt gehe ich gegen dich vor, Pharao, du König Ägyptens, du großes Krokodil, das zwischen den Armen des Nil liegt und sagt: Mir gehören die Arme des Nil, / ich habe sie selber erschaffen.

4. I shall put hooks through your jaws, make your Nile fish stick to your scales, and pull you out of your Niles with all your Nile fish sticking to your scales.

4. Aber ich schlage dir Haken durch die Kinnbacken und lasse die Fische deines Nil an deinen Schuppen kleben. Ich ziehe dich herauf aus deinem Nil samt all den Fischen deines Nil, die an deinen Schuppen kleben.

5. I shall drop you in the desert, with all your Nile fish. You will fall in the wilds and not be taken up or buried. I shall give you as food to the wild animals and the birds of heaven,

5. Dann werfe ich dich in die Wüste hinaus, / dich und all die Fische des Nil. Aufs trockene Land wirst du fallen. / Niemand holt dich von dort und begräbt dich. Den wilden Tieren und den Vögeln des Himmels / werfe ich dich vor zum Fraß.

6. and all the inhabitants of Egypt will know that I am Yahweh, for they have given no more support than a reed to the House of Israel.

6. Dann werden alle Ägypter erkennen, / dass ich der Herr bin. Eine Stütze aus Schilfrohr bist du / für das Haus Israel.

7. Wherever they grasped you, you broke in their hands and cut their hands all over. Whenever they leaned on you, you broke, making all their limbs give way.

7. Nehmen sie dich in die Hand, dann zerbrichst du / und durchbohrst ihnen die Schulter;stützen sie sich auf dich, dann zerbrichst du / und allen beginnen die Hüften zu wanken.

8. "So, the Lord Yahweh says this: I shall send the sword against you to denude you of human and animal.

8. Darum - so spricht Gott, der Herr: Ich bringe das Schwert über dich und rotte Mensch und Vieh bei dir aus.

9. Egypt will become a desolate waste, and they will know that I am Yahweh. Because he thought: The Nile is mine, I made it,

9. Ägypten wird zu Wüste und Ödland. Dann werden sie erkennen, dass ich der Herr bin. Du hast gesagt: Mir gehören die Arme des Nil; / ich habe sie selber erschaffen.

10. very well, I am against you and your Niles. I shall make Egypt a waste and a desolation, from Migdol to Syene and beyond to the frontiers of Ethiopia.

10. Darum gehe ich jetzt gegen dich und deine Nilarme vor. Ich mache Ägypten zum dürren Ödland, zur Wüste von Migdol bis Syene und bis an die Grenzen von Kusch.

11. No human foot will pass through it, no animal foot will pass through it. For forty years it will remain uninhabited.

11. Weder Mensch noch Tier geht mehr darüber hin. Vierzig Jahre lang wird es nicht mehr bewohnt sein.

12. I shall make Egypt the most desolate of countries; for forty years its cities will be the most desolate of wasted cities. And I shall scatter the Egyptians among the nations and disperse them among the countries.

12. Ich mache Ägypten zur Wüste inmitten verwüsteter Länder. Seine Städte sollen vierzig Jahre lang verwüstet daliegen inmitten verödeter Städte. Ich zerstreue die Ägypter unter die Völker und vertreibe sie in alle Länder.

13. The Lord Yahweh, however, says this: After forty years have passed, I shall gather the Egyptians back from the nations where they were dispersed.

13. Denn so spricht Gott, der Herr: Nach vierzig Jahren führe ich die Ägypter aus den Völkern zusammen, unter die sie zerstreut wurden.

14. I shall bring the Egyptian captives back and re-install them in the land of Pathros, in the country of their origin. There they will constitute a modest kingdom.

14. Ich wende das Geschick Ägyptens und bringe sie zurück in das Land Patros, das Land ihrer Herkunft. Dort werden sie ein unbedeutendes Reich gründen.

15. Egypt will be the most modest of kingdoms and no longer dominate other nations; for I shall reduce it, so that it will not rule other nations ever again.

15. Es wird unbedeutend sein im Vergleich zu den anderen Königreichen, und es wird sich nicht mehr über die anderen Völker erheben. Ich mache sie ganz klein, damit sie nicht mehr über die Völker herrschen können.

16. It will no longer be anything for the House of Israel to trust in, but will be a reminder of the guilt which lay in turning to it for help. And they will know that I am Lord Yahweh." '

16. Das Haus Israel wird ihnen nicht mehr vertrauen und sich ihnen nicht mehr anschließen; es wird sich hüten, seine alte Schuld wieder in Erinnerung zu rufen. Sie werden erkennen, dass ich Gott, der Herr, bin.

17. In the twenty-seventh year, on the first day of the first month, the word of Yahweh was addressed to me as follows:

17. Am ersten Tag des ersten Monats im siebenundzwanzigsten Jahr erging das Wort des Herrn an mich:

18. 'Son of man, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon has taken his army in a great expedition against Tyre. Their heads have all gone bald, their shoulders are all chafed, but even so he has derived no profit, either for himself or for his army, from the expedition mounted against Tyre.

18. Menschensohn! Nebukadnezzar, der König von Babel, hat sein Heer vor Tyrus schwere Arbeit verrichten lassen; alle Köpfe wurden kahl und jede Schulter war zerschunden. Aber Tyrus hat ihn und sein Heer nicht belohnt für die Arbeit, die sie geleistet haben.

19. Since this is so, the Lord Yahweh says this, "Look, I shall hand Egypt over to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon. He will carry off its riches, loot it, put it to the sack; that will be the wages for his army.

19. Darum - so spricht Gott, der Herr: Ich gebe Nebukadnezzar, dem König von Babel, das Land Ägypten. Er wird seine Schätze wegschleppen; er wird alles plündern und reiche Beute machen. Das wird der Lohn seines Heeres sein.

20. As wages for the trouble he has taken, I am giving him Egypt instead (for they have been working for me)-declares the Lord Yahweh.

20. Als Belohnung für seine Arbeit gebe ich ihm Ägypten; denn sie haben für mich gearbeitet - Spruch Gottes, des Herrn.

21. "That day, I shall raise up a new stock for the House of Israel and allow you to open your mouth among them. And they will know that I am Yahweh." '

21. An jenem Tag werde ich dem Haus Israel neue Kraft verleihen und du sollst wieder zu ihnen reden. Dann werden sie erkennen, dass ich der Herr bin.
