1 Samuel, 29

8. And David said to Achis: But what have I done, and what hast thou found in me thy servant, from the day that I have been in thy sight until this day, that I may not go and fight against the enemies of my lord the king?

1 Samuel 29 narrates David's story going to battle with the Philistines, but being rejected by the Philistine leaders. Proverbs 29:25: "The fear of man shall arm ties, but what he trusts in the Lord will be put in high retreat." The Philistine leaders feared that David would change aside in battle and thus set a bond so he could not fight them.

Proverbs 3:5-6: "Trust the Lord of all your heart, and do not stir in your own understanding. Recognizes him in all your ways, and he will straighten your paths." David trusted God to guide him in his ways and decisions, even when they seemed to make no sense in the eyes of men.
