Ezekiel, 38

1. The word of Yahweh was addressed to me as follows,

2. 'Son of man, turn towards Gog, to the country of Magog, towards the paramount prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him.

2. Menschensohn, richte dein Gesicht auf Gog im Land Magog, auf den Großfürsten von Meschech und Tubal, tritt als Prophet gegen ihn auf

3. Say, "The Lord Yahweh says this: I am against you, Gog, paramount prince of Meshech and Tubal.

3. und sag: So spricht Gott, der Herr: Ich will gegen dich vorgehen, Gog, gegen dich, den Großfürsten von Meschech und Tubal.

4. I shall turn you about, I shall fix hooks in your jaws and bring you out with your entire army, horses and horsemen, all perfectly equipped, a huge array armed with shields and bucklers, and all wielding swords.

4. Ich reiße dich herum und schlage dir Haken durch deine Kinnbacken und führe dich und deine ganze Streitmacht heraus: Pferde und Reiter, alle prächtig gekleidet, ein großes Heer, mit Langschild und Rundschild; alle haben ihr Schwert in der Hand.

5. Persia and Cush and Put are with them, all with buckler and helmet;

5. Auch Paras, Kusch und Put sind dabei, alle ausgerüstet mit Schild und Helm, dazu

6. Gomer and all its troops, Beth-Togarmah in the far north and all its troops, and many nations with you.

6. Gomer und all seine Truppen, Bet-Togarma aus dem äußersten Norden und all seine Truppen. Viele Völker ziehen mit dir.

7. Be ready, be well prepared, you and all your troops and the others rallying to you, and hold yourself at my service.

7. Rüste dich, halte dich bereit, du und dein ganzes Heer, das bei dir versammelt ist; sei mit ihnen auf dem Posten.

8. "Many days will pass before you are given orders; in the final years you will march on this country, whose inhabitants will have been living in confidence, remote from other peoples, since they escaped the sword and were gathered in from various nations, here in the long-deserted mountains of Israel.

8. Nach langer Zeit wirst du deinen Auftrag erhalten. Nach vielen Jahren wirst du in ein Land kommen, dessen Volk dem Schwert entronnen ist und aus vielen Völkern wieder auf den Bergen Israels zusammengeführt wurde, die lange verödet waren. Mitten aus den Völkern wurde es herausgeführt und alle leben in Sicherheit.

9. Like a storm you will approach, you will advance and cover the country like a cloud, you, all your troops and many nations with you.

9. Wie ein Unwetter ziehst du herauf; wie eine Wolke, die das ganze Land bedeckt - du und all deine Truppen und viele Völker mit dir.

10. "The Lord Yahweh says this: That day, a thought will enter your mind and you will form a sinister plan.

10. So spricht Gott, der Herr: An jenem Tag steigen (unheilvolle) Gedanken in deinem Herzen auf und du ersinnst einen bösen Plan.

11. You will think: I shall attack this undefended country and march on this peaceful nation living secure, all living in towns without walls or bars or gates.

11. Du sagst: Ich will gegen das ungeschützte Land hinaufziehen und die friedlichen Menschen überfallen, die dort in Sicherheit leben; alle leben sie ohne Mauern und sie haben keine Riegel und Tore.

12. You will come to plunder and loot and turn your might against the ruins they live in, against this people gathered back from the nations, these stock-breeders and traders who live at the Navel of the World.

12. Ich will Beute machen und plündern, ich will diese wieder bewohnten Trümmer angreifen und das Volk überfallen, das aus den Völkern zusammengeführt wurde, das sich wieder Herden und Besitz erworben hat und jetzt auf dem Nabel der Erde wohnt.

13. Sheba and Dedan, the merchants and all the magnates of Tarshish will ask you: Have you come for plunder? Are you massing your troops with a view to looting? To make off with gold and silver, seize cattle and goods, and come away with unlimited spoil?"

13. Dann werden dich Saba und Dedan und die Kaufleute und Händler von Tarschisch fragen: Kommst du, um Beute zu machen? Hast du deine Heere versammelt, um zu plündern, um Silber und Gold wegzuschleppen, Herden und Besitz zu rauben und große Beute zu machen?

14. 'So, son of man, prophesy. Say to Gog, "The Lord Yahweh says this: Is it not true that you will set out at a time when my people Israel is living secure?

14. Darum tritt als Prophet auf, Menschensohn, und sag zu Gog: So spricht Gott, der Herr: Dann, wenn mein Volk Israel sich in Sicherheit wähnt, brichst du auf

15. You will leave your home in the far north, you and many nations with you, a great army of countless troops all mounted.

15. und ziehst aus deinem Land heran, aus dem äußersten Norden, du und viele Völker mit dir, alle zu Pferd, ein großes Heer, eine gewaltige Streitmacht.

16. You will invade Israel, my people. You will be like a cloud covering the country. In the final days, I myself shall bring you to attack my country, so that the nations will know who I am, when I display my holiness to them, by means of you, Gog.

16. Du ziehst gegen mein Volk Israel heran wie eine Wolke, die das ganze Land bedeckt. Am Ende der Tage wird es geschehen: Ich lasse dich gegen mein Land heranziehen; denn die Völker sollen mich erkennen, wenn ich mich vor ihren Augen an dir, Gog, als heilig erweise.

17. "The Lord Yahweh says this: It was of you that I spoke in the past through my servants the prophets of Israel, who prophesied in those days, foretelling your invasion.

17. So spricht Gott, der Herr: Du bist der, von dem ich in früherer Zeit durch meine Knechte gesprochen habe, durch die Propheten Israels, die in jenen Tagen und Jahren weissagten, dass ich dich gegen Israel heranziehen lasse.

18. The day Gog attacks the land of Israel -- declares the Lord Yahweh -- my furious wrath will boil up. In my anger,

18. Und an jenem Tag, wenn Gog gegen das Land Israel heranzieht - Spruch Gottes, des Herrn -, wird der Groll in mir aufsteigen.

19. in my jealousy, in the heat of my fury I say it: That day, I swear, there will be such a huge earthquake in the land of Israel,

19. In meinem leidenschaftlichen Eifer, im Feuer meines Zorns, schwöre ich: An jenem Tag wird es im ganzen Land Israel ein gewaltiges Erdbeben geben.

20. that the fish in the sea and the birds of heaven, the wild beasts, all the reptiles creeping along the ground, and all people on the surface of the earth will quake before me. Mountains will fall, cliffs crumble, all walls collapse, and

20. Dann zittern die Fische im Meer und die Vögel am Himmel vor mir, das Wild auf dem Feld und alle kleinen Tiere, die auf dem Erdboden kriechen, und alle Menschen auf Erden. Es bersten die Berge, die Felswände stürzen ein und alle Mauern fallen zu Boden.

21. I shall summon every kind of sword against him -- declares the Lord Yahweh -- and each will turn his sword against his comrade.

21. Dann rufe ich mein ganzes Bergland zum Krieg gegen Gog auf - Spruch Gottes, des Herrn. Da wird sich das Schwert des einen gegen den andern wenden.

22. I shall punish him with plague and bloodshed, and rain down torrential rain, hailstones, fire and brimstone on him, on his troops and on the many nations with him.

22. Ich richte ihn durch Pest und (Ströme von) Blut; ich lasse Wolkenbrüche und Hagel, Feuer und Schwefel über ihn und seine Truppen und über die vielen Völker, die bei ihm sind, herabregnen.

23. I shall display my greatness and holiness and bring the many nations to acknowledge me; and they will know that I am Yahweh." '

23. So werde ich mich als groß und heilig erweisen und mich vor den Augen vieler Völker zu erkennen geben. Dann werden sie erkennen, dass ich der Herr bin.
