Matthieu, 12

1. Or, il se trouvait (là) un homme qui avait une main sèche,et ils lui demandèrent : " Est-il permis de guérir, le jour du sabbat? " pour pouvoir l'accuser.

1. of grain and eat them.

2. Les Pharisiens, voyant cela, lui dirent : " Vos disciples font unechose qu'il n'est pas permis de faire un jour de sabbat. "

2. When the Pharisees saw this, they said to him, "See, your disciples are doing what is unlawful to do on the sabbath."

3. Mais il leur dit : " N'avez-vous pas lu ce que fit David, lorsqu'ileut faim, ainsi que ceux qui étaient avec lui :

3. He said to them, "Have you not read what David did when he and his companions were hungry,

4. comme il entra dans la maison de Dieu et mangea les pains de proposition,qu'il ne lui était pas permis de manger, non plus qu'à ceux qui étaientavec lui, mais aux prêtres seuls?

4. how he went into the house of God and ate the bread of offering, which neither he nor his companions but only the priests could lawfully eat?

5. Ou n'avez-vous pas lu dans la Loi que, le jour du sabbat, les prêtes,dans le temple violent le sabbat sans se rentre coupables?

5. Or have you not read in the law that on the sabbath the priests serving in the temple violate the sabbath and are innocent?

6. Or, je vous dis qu'il y a ici plus grand que le temple.

6. I say to you, something greater than the temple is here.

7. Si vous aviez compris ce que veut dire : Je veux la miséricordeet non le sacrifice, vous n'auriez pas condamné des innocents.

7. If you knew what this meant, 'I desire mercy, not sacrifice,' you would not have condemned these innocent men.

8. En effet le Fils de l'homme est maître du sabbat. "

8. For the Son of Man is Lord of the sabbath."

9. Et, ayant quitté ce lieu, il s'en vint à leur synagogue.

9. Moving on from there, he went into their synagogue.

10. And behold, there was a man there who had a withered hand. They questioned him, "Is it lawful to cure on the sabbath?" so that they might accuse him.

11. Il leur dit : " Quel sera celui d'entre vous, qui n'ayant qu'unebrebis, si elle tombe dans une fosse un jour de sabbat, ne la prendra pour la retirer?

11. He said to them, "Which one of you who has a sheep that falls into a pit on the sabbath will not take hold of it and lift it out?

12. Or, combien un homme vaut plus qu'une brebis ! Il est donc permisde faire le bien le jour du sabbat. "

12. How much more valuable a person is than a sheep. So it is lawful to do good on the sabbath."

13. Alors il dit à l'homme : " Etends la main. " Il l'étendit,et elle redevint saine comme l'autre.

13. Then he said to the man, "Stretch out your hand." He stretched it out, and it was restored as sound as the other.

14. Les Pharisiens, étant sortis, prirent une délibérationcontre lui sur les moyens de le perdre.

14. But the Pharisees went out and took counsel against him to put him to death.

15. Mais Jésus en ayant eu connaissance, s'éloigna de ceslieux. Et des [foules] nombreuses le suivirent, et il les guérit tous.

15. When Jesus realized this, he withdrew from that place. Many (people) followed him, and he cured them all,

16. Et il leur commanda avec force de ne pas le faire connaître.

16. but he warned them not to make him known.

17. (C'était) afin que s'accomplît la parole du prophèteIsaïe :

17. This was to fulfill what had been spoken through Isaiah the prophet:

18. Voici mon serviteur que j'ai choisi, mon bien-aimé en quimon âme se complaît. Je ferai reposer sur lui mon Esprit, et il annoncera le jugement aux nations.

18. "Behold, my servant whom I have chosen, my beloved in whom I delight; I shall place my spirit upon him, and he will proclaim justice to the Gentiles.

19. Il ne disputera point, il ne criera point, et nul n'entendra savoix sur les places publiques.

19. He will not contend or cry out, nor will anyone hear his voice in the streets.

20. Il ne brisera point le roseau froissé et n'éteindrapoint la mèche qui fume encore, jusqu'à ce qu'il ait fait triompher le jugement;

20. A bruised reed he will not break, a smoldering wick he will not quench, until he brings justice to victory.

21. et en son nom les nations mettront leur espérance.

21. And in his name the Gentiles will hope."

22. On lui amena alors un possédé aveugle et muet, et ille guérit, de sorte que le meut parlait et voyait.

22. Then they brought to him a demoniac who was blind and mute. He cured the mute person so that he could speak and see.

23. Et toutes les foules, saisies d'étonnement, disaient : "N'est-ce pas là le fils de David? "

23. All the crowd was astounded, and said, "Could this perhaps be the Son of David?"

24. Mais les Pharisiens, entendant cela, dirent : " Il ne chasse lesdémons que par Béelzéboul, chef des démons. "

24. But when the Pharisees heard this, they said, "This man drives out demons only by the power of Beelzebul, the prince of demons."

25. Jésus, connaissant leurs pensées, leur dit : " Toutroyaume divisé contre lui-même va à la ruine, et toute ville ou maison divisée contre elle-mêmene pourra subsister.

25. But he knew what they were thinking and said to them, "Every kingdom divided against itself will be laid waste, and no town or house divided against itself will stand.

26. Si Satan chasse Satan, il est divisé contre lui-même: comment donc son royaume pourra-t-il subsister?

26. And if Satan drives out Satan, he is divided against himself; how, then, will his kingdom stand?

27. Et si moi je chasse les démons par Béelzéboul,par qui vos fils les chassent-ils? C'est pourquoi ils seront eux-mêmes vos juges.

27. And if I drive out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your own people drive them out? Therefore they will be your judges.

28. Mais si c'est par l'Esprit de Dieu que je chasse les démons,le royaume de Dieu est donc arrivé à vous.

28. But if it is by the Spirit of God that I drive out demons, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.

29. Ou bien, comment quelqu'un peut-il entrer dans la maison de l'hommefort et enlever ses meubles, sans avoir auparavant lié l'homme fort? Alors seulementil pillera sa maison.

29. How can anyone enter a strong man's house and steal his property, unless he first ties up the strong man? Then he can plunder his house.

30. Qui n'est pas avec moi est contre moi, et qui n'amasse pas avecmoi disperse.

30. Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters.

31. C'est pourquoi je vous dis : Tout péché, tout blasphèmesera remis aux hommes, mais le blasphème contre l'Esprit ne sera pas remis.

31. Therefore, I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven people, but blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven.

32. Et pour qui aura parlé contre le Fils de l'homme, il y aurarémission; mais pour qui aura parlé contre l'Esprit-Saint, il n'y aura de rémission ni dans ce siècle,ni dans le siècle à venir.

32. And whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven; but whoever speaks against the holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.

33. Ou admettez que l'arbre est bon, et que son fruit est bon; ou admettezque l'arbre est mauvais, et que son fruit est mauvais : car c'est au fruit qu'on connaîtl'arbre.

33. "Either declare the tree good and its fruit is good, or declare the tree rotten and its fruit is rotten, for a tree is known by its fruit.

34. Race de vipères, comment pourriez-vous dire de bonnes paroles,étant mauvais? Car la bouche parle de l'abondance du c?ur.

34. You brood of vipers, how can you say good things when you are evil? For from the fullness of the heart the mouth speaks.

35. L'homme bon tire de son trésor de bonté des chosesbonnes, et l'homme mauvais, de son trésor de malice, tire des choses mauvaises.

35. A good person brings forth good out of a store of goodness, but an evil person brings forth evil out of a store of evil.

36. Je vous le dis : au jour du jugement, les hommes rendront comptede toute parole vaine qu'ils auront dite.

36. I tell you, on the day of judgment people will render an account for every careless word they speak.

37. C'est en effet d'après tes paroles que tu seras déclaréjuste, et d'après tes paroles que tu seras condamné. "

37. By your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned."

38. Alors quelques-uns des scribes et des Pharisiens prirent la paroleet dirent : " Maître, nous voudrions voir un signe de vous. "

38. we wish to see a sign from you."

39. Il leur répondit : " Une génération mauvaiseet adultère réclame un signe : il ne lui sera donné d'autre signe que le signe du prophète Jonas.

39. He said to them in reply, "An evil and unfaithful generation seeks a sign, but no sign will be given it except the sign of Jonah the prophet.

40. Car de même que Jonas fut trois jours et trois nuits dansle ventre du poisson, ainsi le Fils de l'homme sera dans le sein de la terre trois jours et trois nuits.

40. Just as Jonah was in the belly of the whale three days and three nights, so will the Son of Man be in the heart of the earth three days and three nights.

41. Les hommes de Ninive se dresseront, au (jour du) jugement, aveccette génération et la feront condamner, car ils ont fait pénitence à la prédicationde Jonas, et il y a ici plus que Jonas.

41. At the judgment, the men of Nineveh will arise with this generation and condemn it, because they repented at the preaching of Jonah; and there is something greater than Jonah here.

42. La reine du Midi se lèvera au (jour du) jugement, avec cettegénération et la fera condamner, car elle est venue des extrémités de la terre pour entendrela sagesse de Salomon, et il y a ici plus que Salomon.

42. At the judgment the queen of the south will arise with this generation and condemn it, because she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and there is something greater than Solomon here.

43. Lorsque l'esprit impur est sorti d'un homme, il va par des lieuxarides, cherchant du repos, et il n'en trouve point.

43. "When an unclean spirit goes out of a person it roams through arid regions searching for rest but finds none.

44. Alors il dit : " Je retournerai dans ma maison, d'où je suissorti. " Et revenu, il la trouve libre, nettoyée et ornée.

44. Then it says, 'I will return to my home from which I came.' But upon returning, it finds it empty, swept clean, and put in order.

45. Alors il s'en va prendre avec lui sept autres esprits plus mauvaisque lui, et, étant entrés, ils y fixent leur demeure, et le dernier état de cet homme devientpire que le premier. Ainsi en sera-t-il pour cette génération mauvaise. "

45. Then it goes and brings back with itself seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they move in and dwell there; and the last condition of that person is worse than the first. Thus it will be with this evil generation."

46. Comme il parlait encore aux foules, voici que sa mère et sesfrères se tenaient dehors, cherchant à lui parler.

46. While he was still speaking to the crowds, his mother and his brothers appeared outside, wishing to speak with him.

47. Quelqu'un lui dit : " Voici votre mère et vos frèresqui se tiennent dehors, et ils cherchent à vous parler. "

47. (Someone told him, "Your mother and your brothers are standing outside, asking to speak with you.")

48. Il répondit à l'homme qui lui disait cela : " Quiest ma mère et qui sont mes frères? "

48. But he said in reply to the one who told him, "Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?"

49. Et étendant la main vers ses disciples, il dit : " Voicima mère et mes frères.

49. And stretching out his hand toward his disciples, he said, "Here are my mother and my brothers.

50. Car quiconque fait la volonté de mon Père qui estdans les cieux, celui-là est pour moi frère, s?ur et mère. "

50. For whoever does the will of my heavenly Father is my brother, and sister, and mother."
