Deutéronome, 32

1. Cieux, prêtez l'oreille, et je parlerai; et que la terreécoute les paroles de ma bouche!

1. Give ear, O heavens, while I speak; let the earth hearken to the words of my mouth!

2. Que mon enseignement se répande comme la pluie, Que maparole tombe comme la rosée, comme des ondées surla verdure, comme des gouttes d'eau sur le gazon!

2. May my instruction soak in like the rain, and my discourse permeate like the dew, Like a downpour upon the grass, like a shower upon the crops.

3. Car je veux proclamer le nom de Yahweh: Rendez gloire ànotre Dieu!

3. For I will sing the LORD'S renown. Oh, proclaim the greatness of our God!

4. Le Rocher, son oeuvre est parfaite, car toutes ses voies sontjustes; c'est un Dieu fidèle et sans iniquité; ilest juste et droit.

4. The Rock--how faultless are his deeds, how right all his ways! A faithful God, without deceit, how just and upright he is!

5. Ils ont péché contre lui, non ses enfants, maisleur souillure, une race fausse et perverse.

5. Yet basely has he been treated by his degenerate children, a perverse and crooked race!

6. Est-ce là ce que vous rendez à Yahweh, peupleinsensé et dépourvu de sagesse? N'est-il pas tonpère, ton créateur, celui qui t'a fait et qui t'aétabli?

6. Is the LORD to be thus repaid by you, O stupid and foolish people? Is he not your father who created you? Has he not made you and established you?

7. Souviens-toi des anciens jours, considérez lesannées des générations passées!Interroge ton père, et il te l'apprendra, tes vieillards,et ils te le diront.

7. Think back on the days of old, reflect on the years of age upon age. Ask your father and he will inform you, ask your elders and they will tell you:

8. Quand le Très-Haut assigna un héritage auxnations quand il sépara les enfants des hommes, il fixales limites des peuples, d'après le nombre des enfantsd'Israël.

8. When the Most High assigned the nations their heritage, when he parceled out the descendants of Adam, He set up the boundaries of the peoples after the number of the sons of God;

9. Car la portion de Yahweh, c'est son peuple, Jacob est le lotde son héritage.

9. While the LORD'S own portion was Jacob, His hereditary share was Israel.

10. Il l'a trouvé dans une terre déserte, dans unesolitude, aux hurlements sauvages; il l'a entouré, il apris soin de lui, il l'a gardé comme la prunelle de sonoeil.

10. He found them in a wilderness, a wasteland of howling desert. He shielded them and cared for them, guarding them as the apple of his eye.

11. Pareil à l'aigle qui excite sa couvée, etvoltige au-dessus de ses petits, Yahweh a déployéses ailes, il a pris Israël, il l'a porté sur sesplumes;

11. As an eagle incites its nestlings forth by hovering over its brood, So he spread his wings to receive them and bore them up on his pinions.

12. Yahweh seul l'a conduit, nul dieu étrangern'était avec lui.

12. The LORD alone was their leader, no strange god was with him.

13. Il l'a fait monter sur les hauteurs du pays, et Israël amangé les produits des champs; il lui a fait sucer le mieldu rocher, l'huile qui sort de la roche la plus dure,

13. He had them ride triumphant over the summits of the land and live off the products of its fields, Giving them honey to suck from its rocks and olive oil from its hard, stony ground;

14. la crème de la vache et le lait des brebis, avec lagraisse des agneaux, des béliers nés en Basan etdes boucs, avec la fleur du froment; et tu as bu le sang de lagrappe, le vin écumant.

14. Butter from its cows and milk from its sheep, with the fat of its lambs and rams; Its Bashan bulls and its goats, with the cream of its finest wheat; and the foaming blood of its grapes you drank.

15. Mais Jésurun est devenu gras, et il a regimbé;-- tu es devenu gras, épais, replet! -- et il aabandonné le Dieu qui l'avait formé, etméprisé le Rocher de son salut.

15. (So Jacob ate his fill,) the darling grew fat and frisky; you became fat and gross and gorged. They spurned the God who made them and scorned their saving Rock.

16. Ils ont excité sa jalousie par des dieuxétrangers, ils l'ont irrité par desabomination;

16. They provoked him with strange gods and angered him with abominable idols.

17. ils ont sacrifié à des démons qui nesont pas Dieu, à des dieux qu'ils ne connaissaient pas,dieux nouveaux, venus récemment, devant lesquels vospères n'avaient pas tremblé.

17. They offered sacrifice to demons, to "no-gods," to gods whom they had not known before, To newcomers just arrived, of whom their fathers had never stood in awe.

18. Tu as abandonné le Rocher qui t'avait engendré,et oublié le Dieu qui t'avait mis au monde.

18. You were unmindful of the Rock that begot you, You forgot the God who gave you birth.

19. Yahweh l'a vu, et il en a été indigné,provoqué par ses fils et ses filles.

19. When the LORD saw this, he was filled with loathing and anger toward his sons and daughters.

20. Il a dit: «Je leur cacherai ma face, je verrai quellesera leur fin; car c'est une race perverse, des fils en qui iln'y a pas de bonne foi.

20. 'I will hide my face from them," he said, "and see what will then become of them. What a fickle race they are, sons with no loyalty in them!

21. Ils ont excité ma jalousie par ce qui n'est pas Dieu,ils m'ont irrité par leurs vaines idoles; et moi,j'exciterai leur jalousie par ce qui n'est pas un peuple, je lesirriterai par une nation insensée.

21. "Since they have provoked me with their 'no-god' and angered me with their vain idols, I will provoke them with a 'no-people'; with a foolish nation I will anger them.

22. Car le feu de ma colère s'est allumé, ilbrûle jusqu'au fond du séjour des morts; il dévore la terre et ses produits, il embrase lesfondements des montagnes.

22. "For by my wrath a fire is enkindled that shall rage to the depths of the nether world, Consuming the earth with its yield, and licking with flames the roots of the mountains.

23. J'accumulerai sur eux les maux, sur eux j'épuiseraimes flèches.

23. I will spend on them woe upon woe and exhaust all my arrows against them:

24. Ils seront exténués par la faim,consumés par la fièvre et par la pestemeurtrière; et j'enverrai encore contre eux la dent desbêtes, avec le venin des reptiles qui rampent dans lapoussière.

24. "Emaciating hunger and consuming fever and bitter pestilence, And the teeth of wild beasts I will send among them, with the venom of reptiles gliding in the dust.

25. Au dehors l'épée ravira les enfants, -- et audedans ce sera l'effroi: le jeune homme contre la jeune fille,l'enfant à la mamelle comme le vieillard.

25. "Snatched away by the sword in the street and by sheer terror at home Shall be the youth and the maiden alike, the nursing babe as well as the hoary old man.

26. Je dirai: «Je les emporterai d'un souffle, je feraidisparaître leur souvenir du milieu des hommes,»

26. "I would have said, 'I will make an end of them and blot out their name from men's memories,'

27. si je ne craignais l'arrogance de l'ennemi, que leursadversaires ne se méprennent et qu'ils ne disent: «Notre main a étépuissante, et ce n'est pas Yahweh qui a fait toutes ceschoses.»

27. Had I not feared the insolence of their enemies, feared that these foes would mistakenly boast, 'Our own hand won the victory; the LORD had nothing to do with it.'"

28. Car c'est une nation dénuée de sens, et il n'ya point d'intelligence en eux.

28. For they are a people devoid of reason, having no understanding.

29. S'ils étaient sages, ils le comprendraient, ilsconsidéreraient la fin qui les attend.

29. If they had insight they would realize what happened, they would understand their future and say,

30. Comment un homme en poursuivrait-il mille, comment deux enferaient-ils fuir dix mille, si leur Rocher ne les avait vendus,si Yahweh ne les avait livrés?

30. "How could one man rout a thousand, or two men put ten thousand to flight, Unless it was because their Rock sold them and the LORD delivered them up?"

31. Car leur rocher n'est pas comme notre Rocher, nos ennemis ensont juges.

31. Indeed, their "rock" is not like our Rock, and our foes are under condemnation.

32. Mais leur vigne est du plant de Sodome, et des champs deGomorrhe; leurs raisins sont des raisins vénéneux,et leurs grappes sont amères;

32. They are a branch of Sodom's vinestock, from the vineyards of Gomorrah. Poisonous are their grapes and bitter their clusters.

33. leur vin, c'est le venin des dragons, c'est le poison morteldes aspics.

33. Their wine is the venom of dragons and the cruel poison of cobras.

34. Cela n'est-il pas caché près de moi,scellé dans mes trésors?

34. "Is not this preserved in my treasury, sealed up in my storehouse,

35. A moi la vengeance et la rétribution, pour le tempsoù leur pied trébuchera! Car le jour de leurmalheur est proche, et leur destin se précipite.

35. Against the day of vengeance and requital, against the time they lose their footing?" Close at hand is the day of their disaster and their doom is rushing upon them!

36. Car Yahweh fera droit à son peuple, et il se repentiraen faveur de ses serviteurs, quand il verra que leur force estépuisée, et qu'il ne reste plus ni esclave, nilibre.

36. Surely, the LORD shall do justice for his people; on his servants he shall have pity. When he sees their strength failing, and their protected and unprotected alike disappearing,

37. Il dira: «Où sont leurs dieux, le rocherprès duquel ils se réfugiaient,

37. He will say, "Where are their gods whom they relied on as their 'rock'?

38. ces dieux qui mangeaient la graisse de leurs victimes, quibuvaient le vin de leurs libations? Qu'ils se lèvent,qu'ils vous secourent qu'ils vous couvrent de leurprotection!...

38. Let those who ate the fat of your sacrifices and drank the wine of your libations Rise up now and help you! Let them be your protection!

39. Voyez maintenant que c'est moi, moi qui suis Dieu, et qu'iln'y a point de Dieu à côté de moi. C'est moiqui fais mourir et qui fais vivre; j'ai blessé, et c'estmoi qui guérirai, et il n'y a personne qui délivrede ma main.

39. "Learn then that I, I alone, am God, and there is no god besides me. It is I who bring both death and life, I who inflict wounds and heal them, and from my hand there is no rescue.

40. Oui, je lève ma main vers le ciel, et je dis: Je viséternellement!

40. "To the heavens I raise my hand and swear: As surely as I live forever,

41. Quand j'aiguiserai l'éclair de mon glaive, et que mamain saisira le jugement, je tirerai vengeance de mes ennemis, etje rendrai à ceux qui me haïssent.

41. I will sharpen my flashing sword, and my hand shall lay hold of my quiver. "With vengeance I will repay my foes and requite those who hate me.

42. J'enivrerai mes flèches de sang, et monépée se repaîtra de chair: du sang destués et des captifs, de la tête chevelue del'ennemi.»

42. I will make my arrows drunk with blood, and my sword shall gorge itself with flesh-- With the blood of the slain and the captured, Flesh from the heads of the enemy leaders."

43. Nations, poussez des cris de joie en l'honneur de son peuple!Car Yahweh venge le sang de ses serviteurs, il tire vengeance deses adversaires, et il fait l'expiation pour sa terre, pour sonpeuple.

43. Exult with him, you heavens, glorify him, all you angels of God; For he avenges the blood of his servants and purges his people's land.

44. Moïse vint et prononça toutes les paroles de cecantique aux oreilles du peuple; avec lui étaitJosué, fils de Nun.

44. So Moses, together with Joshua, son of Nun, went and recited all the words of this song for the people to hear.

45. Lorsqu'il eut achevé d'adresser toutes ces parolesà tout Israël,

45. When Moses had finished speaking all these words to all Israel,

46. il leur dit: «Prenez à coeur toutes les parolesque je proclame aujourd'hui devant vous, que vous devez prescrireà vos enfants, pour qu'ils mettent soigneusement enpratique toutes les paroles de cette loi.

46. he said, "Take to heart all the warning which I have now given you and which you must impress on your children, that you may carry out carefully every word of this law.

47. Car ce n'est pas une chose indifférente pour vous;c'est votre vie, et, par l'accomplissement de cette parole, vousprolongerez vos jours sur la terre dont vous allez prendrepossession en passant le Jourdain.»

47. For this is no trivial matter for you; rather, it means your very life, since it is by this means that you are to enjoy a long life on the land which you will cross the Jordan to occupy."

48. Ce même jour, Yahweh parla à Moïse, endisant:

48. On that very day the LORD said to Moses,

49. «Monte sur cette montagne d'Abarim, sur le montNébo, au pays de Moab, vis-à-vis de Jéricho,et regarde le pays de Chanaan, que je donne aux enfantsd'Israël pour être leur propriété.

49. "Go up on Mount Nebo, here in the Abarim Mountains (it is in the land of Moab facing Jericho), and view the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the Israelites as their possession.

50. Tu mourras sur la montagne où tu vas monter, et tuseras réuni à ton peuple, de même qu'Aaron,ton frère, est mort sur la montagne de Hor et aété réuni à son peuple,

50. Then you shall die on the mountain you have climbed, and shall be taken to your people, just as your brother Aaron died on Mount Hor and there was taken to his people;

51. parce que vous avez péché contre moi au milieudes enfants d'Israël, aux eaux de Mériba deCadès, dans le désert de Sin, et que vous ne m'avezpas sanctifié au milieu des enfants d'Israël.

51. because both of you broke faith with me among the Israelites at the waters of Meribath-kadesh in the desert of Zin by failing to manifest my sanctity among the Israelites.

52. Tu verras le pays en face de toi, mais tu n'y entreras point,dans ce pays, que je donne aux enfants d'Israël.»

52. You may indeed view the land at a distance, but you shall not enter that land which I am giving to the Israelites."
