Matthew, 27

35. Then, after they had crucified him, they divided his garments, casting lots, in order to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet, saying: “They divided my garments among them, and over my vestment they cast lots.”

Saint Matthew 27 is the chapter that reports the crucifixion and death of Jesus. Some events occurred during their arrest and trial are also narrated. Following are five verses related to the topics covered in this chapter:

Isaiah 53:5: "But he was pierced because of our transgressions, he was crushed because of our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we were healed." Mark 15:22-24: "They took Jesus to the place called Golgota (meaning the place of the skull). There they gave him wine mixed with gall; to see who would be with each one.
