All this is in the Bible, the Testament of the Most High God, the book of the Law which Moses entrusted to us, the inheritance of the congregations of Israel. (Ecclesiasticus 24, 23)
Now I say this: if God has made a testament in due form, it cannot be annulled by the Law which came four hundred and thirty years later; God's promise cannot be cancelled. (Galatians 3, 17)
So Christ is the mediator of a new covenant or testament. His death made atonement for the sins committed under the old testament, and the promise is handed over to all who are called to the everlasting inheritance. (Hebrews 9, 15)
With every testament it is necessary to wait until its author has died. (Hebrews 9, 16)
For a testament infers death and has no value while the maker of it is still alive. (Hebrews 9, 17)
