Judith, 8

18. For there has not risen among us in recent generations, nor does there exist today, any tribe, or clan, or town, or city of ours that worships gods made by hands, as happened in former days.

Judite 8 describes how Judith convinced the elders of her city to allow her to leave the city gates to surrender to the Assyrians. She used her wisdom and eloquence to persuade them that this was the only way to save the city.
