Judith, 8

14. For ye cannot find the depth of the heart of man, neither can ye perceive the things that he thinketh: then how can ye search out God, that hath made all these things, and know his mind, or comprehend his purpose? Nay, my brethren, provoke not the Lord our God to anger.

Judite 8 describes how Judith convinced the elders of her city to allow her to leave the city gates to surrender to the Assyrians. She used her wisdom and eloquence to persuade them that this was the only way to save the city. Then she went to the Assyrian camp, where General Holofernes deceived and cut her head, bringing the victory to Israel. Below are five verses related to the topics covered in Judite 8:

Proverbs 14:1: "The wise woman builds her home, but the foolish, with her own hands, drops her." This verse emphasizes the importance of wisdom and female intelligence, a quality that Judith has largely demonstrated.

2 Timothy 1:7: "For God has not given us a spirit of cowardice, but of power, love and balance." This verse reminds us that God gives us the power and courage necessary to face any challenge, just as Judith faced the Assyrian army.
