Chapter 3 of Acts of the Apostles narrates the healing of a lame man who was at the temple door asking for alms. Peter and John, as they pass him, heal him in the name of Jesus Christ. This episode results in a great commotion of the people who witnessed the miracle and Peter takes the opportunity to preach about Jesus as the Messiah and urges the people to repentance and conversion. Isaiah 53:5: "But he was wounded because of our transgressions, and ground because of our iniquities; the punishment that brings us peace was upon him, and by his footsteps we were healed." The healing of man lame through faith in Jesus Christ occurs in compliance with a prophecy of Isaiah, which shows that he was wounded to give us peace and heal us.
