Hebrews 10 talks about the superiority of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ in relation to the sacrifices offered by the Old Testament priests. Isaiah 53:6: "We were all strayed like sheep; each one wiped himself along the way, but the Lord has dropped upon him the iniquity of us all." This verse points to the sinful nature of humanity and how we all need a sacrifice to purify us.
Psalm 40:6-8: "Sacrifice and offering did not want; my ears have opened; holocaust and atonement for sin did not demand. Then I said, Here I am; in the roll of the book is written about me. Your will, O God, yes, your law is within my heart. " This psalm highlights Jesus' obedience to offer his life as a sacrifice rather than following the ritual of the sacrifices offered by the priests.
Leviticus 16:34: "This will be for you a perpetual statute, to do atonement for the children of Israel of all their sins once a year." This verse highlights the limitation of the annual ritual of atonement for the sins of the people, in contrast to the sacrifice of Jesus that was offered once and for all to purify the sins of humanity.
Isaiah 52:13-15: "Behold, my servant will proceed with prudence; it will be exalted, it will be high, it will be very sublime. As many in his sight amazed, for his aspect was so disfigured that he was not that of a man, and His figure was not that of the children of men, so he will sprinkle many nations, and the kings will close their mouths because of him; for what has not been announced to them, and what they have not heard will understand. " This verse points to the suffering of Jesus on the cross and how essential it was for the purification of the sins of humanity.
Jeremiah 31:33: "But this is the pact that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord, I shall put my law within, and I will write it into His heart; and I will be your God and they will be my people. " This verse highlights God's promise to write his law in the heart of humanity, which is only possible through the sacrifice of Jesus.
