Judith, 8

27. Not for vengeance did the Lord put them in the crucible to try their hearts, nor has he done so with us. It is by way of admonition that he chastises those who are close to him."

Judite 8 describes how Judith convinced the elders of her city to allow her to leave the city gates to surrender to the Assyrians. She used her wisdom and eloquence to persuade them that this was the only way to save the city. Then she went to the Assyrian camp, where General Holofernes deceived and cut her head, bringing the victory to Israel. Below are five verses related to the topics covered in Judite 8:

Proverbs 14:1: "The wise woman builds her home, but the foolish, with her own hands, drops her." This verse emphasizes the importance of wisdom and female intelligence, a quality that Judith has largely demonstrated.
