19. Then Bethsabee came to king Solomon, to speak to him for Adonias: and the king arose to meet her, and bowed to her, and sat down upon his throne: and a throne was set for the king's mother, and she sat on his right hand.

Chapter 2 of 1 kings deals with the death of King David and the succession of the throne by Solomon, his son. In this chapter David gives Solomon instructions on how he must behave as King and also orders some of his enemies to be punished. Psalm 72:1: "O God, give the King your judgments, and your righteousness to the Son of the King." This psalm talks about justice that must be exercised by kings and how they must govern with equity. Proverbs 20:28: "Mercy and truth keep the king, and with mercy sustains his throne." Isaiah 11:3: and will delight in the fear of the Lord; and will not judge according to the view of his eyes, nor do he rebuke according to his ears. Matthew 6:33: "But seek first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." This verse talks about the importance of placing God first and seeking His righteousness rather than seeking our own desires. This relates to Chapter 2 of 1 kings, where Solomon is instructed to obey God's commandments and to rule with righteousness.
