23. But the kingdoms of Geshur and Aram took from them the villages of Jair, that is Kenath and its towns, sixty towns in all. All this had belonged to the descendants of Machir, father of Gilead.

1 Chronicles 2 begins with the genealogy of the children of Israel, starting with Judah and their descendants, including the lineage of King David. The chapter also mentions other tribes of Israel and its genealogies. Some of the topics covered in 1 chronicles 2 include descent, weddings, children and grandchildren. Below are five verses related to these themes:

Genesis 38:6: "And Judah took a woman to ER, her firstborn, and her name was Tamar." This verse speaks of the marriage of ER, son of Judah, with Tamar, which relates to the mention of the children of Judah in 1 chronicles 2.

Rute 4:22: "who had Solomon; this is the father of Jessé, the father of David." This verse relates to the mention of Judah's offspring, which culminates in the lineage of King David in 1 Chronicles 2.

This verse speaks of the division of the land of Canaan between the tribes of Israel, which relates to the mention of the other tribes besides Judah in 1 chronicles 2.
