Ezekiel, 32

1. And it happened that, in the twelfth year, in the twelfth month, on the first of the month, the word of the Lord came to me, saying:

1. La douzième année, le premier jour du douzième mois, la parole de l`Éternel me fut adressée, en ces mots:

2. “Son of man, take up a lamentation over Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, and you shall say to him: You are like the lion of the Gentiles, and like the dragon that is in the sea. And you brandished a horn among your rivers, and you disturbed the waters with your feet, and you trampled upon their rivers.

2. Fils de l`homme, Prononce une complainte sur Pharaon, roi d`Égypte! Tu lui diras: Tu ressemblais à un lionceau parmi les nations; Tu étais comme un crocodile dans les mers, Tu t`élançais dans tes fleuves, Tu troublais les eaux avec tes pieds, Tu agitais leurs flots.

3. Because of this, thus says the Lord God: I will spread my net over you, with the multitude of many peoples, and I will draw you into my dragnet.

3. Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l`Éternel: J`étendrai sur toi mon rets, Dans une foule nombreuse de peuples, Et ils te tireront dans mon filet.

4. And I will throw you upon the land. I will cast you upon the surface of the field. And I will cause all the birds of the air to live upon you. And I will satiate the beasts of the entire earth with you.

4. Je te laisserai à terre, Je te jetterai sur la face des champs; Je ferai reposer sur toi tous les oiseaux du ciel, Et je rassasierai de toi les bêtes de toute la terre.

5. And I will place your flesh upon the mountains. And I will fill up your hills with your decaying flesh.

5. Je mettrai ta chair sur les montagnes, Et je remplirai les vallées de tes débris;

6. And I will irrigate the earth with your rotting blood upon the mountains. And the valleys will be filled with you.

6. J`arroserai de ton sang le pays où tu nages, Jusqu`aux montagnes, Et les ravins seront remplis de toi.

7. And I will cover heaven, when you will have been extinguished. And I will cause its stars to grow dark. I will shroud the sun with gloom, and the moon will not give her light.

7. Quand je t`éteindrai, je voilerai les cieux Et j`obscurcirai leurs étoiles, Je couvrirai le soleil de nuages, Et la lune ne donnera plus sa lumière.

8. I will cause all the lights of heaven to grieve over you. And I will bring darkness upon your land, says the Lord God, when your wounded will have fallen in the midst of the land, says the Lord God.

8. J`obscurcirai à cause de toi tous les luminaires des cieux, Et je répandrai les ténèbres sur ton pays, Dit le Seigneur, l`Éternel.

9. And I will provoke the heart of many peoples to anger, when I will have led in your destruction among the Gentiles, over the lands that you have not known.

9. J`affligerai le coeur de beaucoup de peuples, Quand j`annoncerai ta ruine parmi les nations A des pays que tu ne connaissais pas.

10. And I will cause many peoples to be stupefied over you. And their kings will be afraid, with great horror, over you, when my sword will begin to fly above their faces. And suddenly, they will be struck with astonishment, each one concerning his own life, on the day of their ruination.

10. Je frapperai de stupeur beaucoup de peuples à cause de toi, Et leurs rois seront saisis d`épouvante à cause de toi, Quand j`agiterai mon épée devant leur face; Ils trembleront à tout instant chacun pour sa vie, Au jour de ta chute.

11. For thus says the Lord God: The sword of the king of Babylon will come to you.

11. Car ainsi parle le Seigneur, l`Éternel: L`épée du roi de Babylone fondra sur toi.

12. By the swords of the strong, I will cast down your multitude. All these nations are invincible, and they will lay waste to the arrogance of Egypt, and so its multitude will be destroyed.

12. Je ferai tomber ta multitude par l`épée de vaillants hommes, Tous les plus violents d`entre les peuples; Ils anéantiront l`orgueil de l`Égypte, Et toute sa multitude sera détruite.

13. And I will perish all its cattle, which were above the many waters. And the foot of man will no longer disturb them, and the hoof of cattle will no longer trouble them.

13. Je ferai périr tout son bétail près des grandes eaux; Le pied de l`homme ne les troublera plus, Le sabot des animaux ne les troublera plus.

14. Then I will cause their waters to be very pure, and their rivers to be like oil, says the Lord God,

14. Alors je calmerai ses eaux, Et je ferai couler ses fleuves comme l`huile, Dit le Seigneur, l`Éternel

15. when I will have set the land of Egypt in desolation. And the land will be deprived of her plenitude, when I will have struck all its inhabitants. And they shall know that I am the Lord.

15. Quand je ferai du pays d`Égypte une solitude, Et que le pays sera dépouillé de tout ce qu`il contient, Quand je frapperai tous ceux qui l`habitent, Ils sauront que je suis l`Éternel.

16. This is the lamentation. And they shall lament it. The daughters of the Gentiles shall lament it. They shall lament it over Egypt and over its multitude, says the Lord God.”

16. C`est là une complainte, et on la dira; Les filles des nations diront cette complainte; Elles la prononceront sur l`Égypte et sur toute sa multitude, Dit le Seigneur, l`Éternel.

17. And it happened that, in the twelfth year, on the fifteenth of the month, the word of the Lord came to me saying:

17. La douzième année, le quinzième jour du mois, la parole de l`Éternel me fut adressée, en ces mots:

18. “Son of man, sing mournfully over the multitude of Egypt. And cast her down, both her and the daughters of the robust nations, to the lowest part of the earth, with those who descend into the pit.

18. Fils de l`homme, Lamente-toi sur la multitude d`Égypte, et précipite-la, Elle et les filles des nations puissantes, Dans les profondeurs de la terre, Avec ceux qui descendent dans la fosse!

19. Whom do you exceed in beauty? Descend and sleep with the uncircumcised!

19. Qui surpasses-tu en beauté? Descends, et couche-toi avec les incirconcis!

20. They will fall by the sword in the midst of the slain. The sword has been given. They have dragged her down, with all her people.

20. Ils tomberont au milieu de ceux qui sont morts par l`épée. Le glaive est donné: Entraînez l`Égypte et toute sa multitude!

21. The most powerful among the strong will speak to him from the midst of hell, those who descended with his helpers and who went to sleep uncircumcised, slain by the sword.

21. Les puissants héros lui adresseront la parole Au sein du séjour des morts, Avec ceux qui étaient ses soutiens. Ils sont descendus, ils sont couchés, les incirconcis, Tués par l`épée.

22. Assur is in that place, with all his multitude. Their graves are all around him: all of the slain and those who fell by the sword.

22. Là est l`Assyrien, avec toute sa multitude, Et ses sépulcres sont autour de lui; Tous sont morts, sont tombés par l`épée.

23. Their graves have been placed in the lowest parts of the pit. And his multitude was stationed on all sides of his grave: all of the slain, and those who fell by the sword, who formerly spread terror in the land of the living.

23. Ses sépulcres sont dans les profondeurs de la fosse, Et sa multitude est autour de son sépulcre; Tous sont morts, sont tombés par l`épée; Eux qui répandaient la terreur dans le pays des vivants.

24. Elam is in that place, with all his multitude, on all sides of his grave, all those who were slain or who fell by the sword, who descended uncircumcised to the lowest part of the earth, who caused their terror in the land of the living. And they have borne their disgrace, with those who descend into the pit.

24. Là est Élam, avec toute sa multitude, Autour est son sépulcre; Tous sont morts, sont tombés par l`épée; Ils sont descendus incirconcis dans les profondeurs de la terre, Eux qui répandaient la terreur dans le pays des vivants, Et ils ont porté leur ignominie vers ceux qui descendent dans la fosse.

25. They have appointed him a place to lie among all his people, in the midst of the slain. Their graves are all around him. All these are uncircumcised and were slain by the sword. For they spread their terror in the land of the living, and they have borne their disgrace, with those who descend into the pit. They have been stationed in the midst of the slain.

25. On a fait sa couche parmi les morts avec toute sa multitude, Et ses sépulcres sont autour de lui; Tous ces incirconcis sont morts par l`épée, Car ils répandaient la terreur dans le pays des vivants, Et ils ont porté leur ignominie vers ceux qui descendent dans la fosse; Ils ont été placés parmi les morts.

26. Meshech and Tubal are in that place, with all their multitude. Their graves are all around him: all these are uncircumcised, and they were slain and fell by the sword. For they spread their terror in the land of the living.

26. Là sont Méschec, Tubal, et toute leur multitude, Et leurs sépulcres sont autour d`eux; Tous ces incirconcis sont morts par l`épée, Car ils répandaient la terreur dans le pays des vivants.

27. But they shall not sleep with the strong, and with those who also fell uncircumcised, who descended to hell with their weapons, and who placed their swords under their heads, while their iniquities were in their bones. For they were the terror of the strong in the land of the living.

27. Ils ne sont pas couchés avec les héros, Ceux qui sont tombés d`entre les incirconcis; Ils sont descendus au séjour des morts avec leurs armes de guerre, Ils ont mis leurs épées sous leurs têtes, Et leurs iniquités ont été sur leurs ossements; Car ils étaient la terreur des héros dans le pays des vivants.

28. Therefore, you also will be broken in the midst of the uncircumcised, and you will sleep with those who were slain by the sword.

28. Toi aussi, tu seras brisé au milieu des incirconcis; Tu seras couché avec ceux qui sont morts par l`épée.

29. Idumea is in that place, with her kings and all her commanders, who with their army have been given to those who were slain by the sword. And they have slept with the uncircumcised and with those who descend into the pit.

29. Là sont Édom, ses rois et tous ses princes, Qui, malgré leur vaillance, ont été placés Avec ceux qui sont morts par l`épée; Ils sont couchés avec les incirconcis, Avec ceux qui descendent dans la fosse.

30. All the leaders of the north are in that place, with all the hunters, who were brought down with the slain, fearful and confounded in their strength, who have gone to sleep uncircumcised, with those who were slain by the sword. And they have borne their disgrace, with those who descend into the pit.

30. Là sont tous les princes du septentrion, et tous les Sidoniens, Qui sont descendus vers les morts, Confus, malgré la terreur qu`inspirait leur vaillance; Ces incirconcis sont couchés avec ceux qui sont morts par l`épée, Et ils ont porté leur ignominie vers ceux qui descendent dans la fosse.

31. Pharaoh saw them, and he was consoled over all his multitude, which was slain by the sword, even Pharaoh and all his army, says the Lord God.

31. Pharaon les verra, Et il se consolera au sujet de toute sa multitude, Des siens qui sont morts par l`épée et de toute son armée, Dit le Seigneur, l`Éternel.

32. For I have spread my terror in the land of the living, and he has gone to sleep in the midst of the uncircumcised, with those who were slain by the sword, even Pharaoh and all his multitude, says the Lord God.”

32. Car je répandrai ma terreur dans le pays des vivants; Et ils seront couchés au milieu des incirconcis, Avec ceux qui sont morts par l`épée, Pharaon et toute sa multitude, Dit le Seigneur, l`Éternel.
