Revelation, 18

23. No light from a lamp will ever be seen in you again. No voices of bride and groom will ever be heard in you again. Because your merchants were the great ones of the world, all nations were led astray by your magic potion.

Revelation 18 talks about the fall of the great city, Babylon, which is seen as a symbolic figure of the world system of power and corruption. Jeremiah 50:32: "The pride of Babylon will fall and will no longer rise; I will destroy its carved images and its statues; and it will forever be an object of horror." This verse talks about the fall of the city of Babylon and its pride, which is similar to what is described in Revelation 18.

Jeremiah 51:7: "Babylon was a golden chalice in the hands of the Lord, who drunk the whole earth. The nations drank from the wine of his wrath; so they are now crazy." This verse describes how Babylon was used by God to punish other nations, but now it will be punished itself.
