Deuteronomy 13 deals with the importance of staying true to the Lord and punishment to those who try to bring the Israelites to worship other gods. The chapter warns of the presence of false prophets who can try to seduce the people with signs and wonders to turn against the Lord. Deuteronomy 4:35 - "It was shown to you, so that you knew that the Lord is God; no other there is not Him." This verse emphasizes the exclusivity of the Lord as God and the importance of not deviating to other gods.
Deuteronomy 6:14-15 - "Do not follow other gods, of the gods of the peoples who are around you; for the Lord thy God is a zealous God in the midst of you, that the wrath of the Lord thy God may not light up against You and destroy you from the earth.
