8. "You also have with you Shimei, son of Gera, the Benjaminite of Bahurim, who cursed me balefully when I was going to Mahanaim. Because he came down to meet me at the Jordan, I swore to him by the LORD that I would not put him to the sword.

Chapter 2 of 1 kings deals with the death of King David and the succession of the throne by Solomon, his son.
