Chapter 6 of Zechariah describes a vision of the prophet in which four cars are presented, representing the presence of God throughout the earth. Then Zechariah receives the order of crowning Joshua, the high priest, with a silver crown, symbolizing the arrival of the Messiah who will come as a priest and king. Below are five verses related to the topics covered in Zechariah 6:
Psalm 72:17: "Your name is blessed forever; as long as the sun lasts, your name remains; all peoples are blessed in him; all nations call him happy." This verse talks about the blessing that Messiah will bring to all nations of the earth, something that Zechariah also highlights in his vision.
Jeremiah 33:15: "In the days of those, and at that time I will make David a renewal of justice, and he will do judgment and righteousness on earth." Joshua's coronation in Zechariah 6 is an anticipation of the arrival of the Messiah, as described by Jeremiah.
Psalm 110:4: "The Lord has sworn, and will not repent: You are priest forever, according to the order of Melchizedek." This verse refers to the priesthood of the Messiah, which will be both priest and king, and is symbolized in Zechariah's view by Joshua's coronation.
Zechariah 3:8: "He hears Joshua, high priest, you and your companions who sit before you; for they are portentous men; behold, I will make my servant come, the branch." This verse is a direct reference to Joshua's coronation in Zechariah 6 and anticipates the arrival of the Messiah as the "branch."
Hebrews 7:17: "For he testifies him: You are a priest forever, according to the order of Melchizedek." Like Psalm 110:4, this verse highlights the duality of the Messiah as a priest and king, in line with the vision of Zechariah.
