Wisdom of Solomon, 7

17. For he hath given me certain knowledge of the things that are, namely, to know how the world was made, and the operation of the elements:

Wisdom 7 presents the prayer of King Solomon asking for wisdom to God. He reflects on the importance of wisdom and how essential it is for human life. The verses related to the topics addressed in this chapter are:

Proverbs 1:7: "The fear of the Lord is the principle of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and discipline." Solomon recognizes that wisdom begins with fear of God, and those who despise it are foolish.

Proverbs 2:6-7: "For the Lord gives wisdom; of his mouth comes knowledge and understanding. He reserves wisdom to the righteous; as a shield protects those who walk with integrity." Solomon claims that wisdom comes from God and is reserved for the righteous.

Proverbs 3:13-14: "How happy is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gets understanding, for wisdom is more profitable than silver and yields more than gold." Solomon highlights the happiness and benefits of finding wisdom and understanding.

Proverbs 9:10: "The fear of the Lord is the principle of wisdom, and the knowledge of the saint is to understand." Solomon reaffirms that wisdom begins with fear of God and that his knowledge is fundamental to understanding it.
