Chapter 16 of the Gospel of John is marked by a discourse of Jesus to his disciples shortly before his arrest and death. He talks about the coming of the Holy Spirit, who will help them understand the truth and guide it in their testimony. Jesus also predicts that his disciples will go through tribulations and persecution, but will have peace and joy in him. Based on these themes, here are five verses of the Bible that relate to the chapter of John 16:
Acts of the Apostles 1:8: "But you will receive power by descending the Holy Spirit upon you, and you shall be witnesses, both in Jerusalem and all Judea and Samaria, and even the ends of the earth." In this verse, Jesus promises the power of the Holy Spirit that his disciples may be his witnesses throughout the world, as He teaches in John 16:7-15.
2 Corinthians 1:3-4: "Blessed be the God and the Father of Our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of Mercies and God of all consolation, who comforts us in all our tribulation, so that we may also comfort those who are in Some tribulation, by the consolation we are comforted by God. " In these verses, the apostle Paul talks about God's consolation in the midst of tribulation, a theme addressed by Jesus in John 16:16-33.
Romans 5:3-5: "And not only this, but we also glory in tribulation, knowing that tribulation produces patience, and patience experience, and experience to hope. And hope does not bring confusion, because love of God is poured into our hearts by the Holy Spirit given to us. " In these verses, Paul teaches that tribulation can produce spiritual fruits and that the Holy Spirit strengthens us in the midst of it, as Jesus teaches in John 16:16-33.
Philippians 4:7: "And the peace of God, which exceeds all understanding, will keep your hearts and your feelings in Christ Jesus." In this verse, Paul talks about the peace of God who keeps the hearts of believers, a theme addressed by Jesus in John 16:16-33, when he says he will leave his disciples his peace.
James 1:2-4: "My brothers, tends for all the joy to pass through various trials, knowing that the trial of your faith produces patience; and patience has your perfect work, so that you may be perfect and complete , without missing anything. " In these verses, James teaches about the joy that can be found in the midst of trials, a theme addressed by Jesus in John 16:16.
