2 Chronicles, 7

1. Now when Solomon had made an end of praying, the fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the LORD filled the house.

2 Chronicles 7 tells the conclusion of the construction of Solomon's temple and his dedication to God. The chapter describes the glory of God who filled the temple and God's response to Solomon's prayer. The celebrations held in honor of the Lord after dedication are also recorded. Psalm 27:4: "One thing I asked the Lord, is what I seek: that I can live in the house of the Lord every day of my life, to contemplate the Lord's goodness and seek his orientation in his temple." This verse highlights the importance of the temple as a place of worship and search for divine orientation.

2 Chronicles 6:40: "Now, my God, may your eyes be open and your listeners attentive to the prayer that I do to you in this place." This verse refers to Solomon's prayer asking God to hear the prayers made in the temple. It is a memory of the importance of prayer in a place consecrated to God.

1 Kings 8:11: "The priests could not continue to minister because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord filled the house of the Lord." This verse describes the glory of God who filled the temple after its conclusion, showing the importance of God's presence in that place.
