1 Maccabees 9 describes the war between the armies of Judas Macabeu and Baquids, General of the Seleucid King. Judas manages to repel the attack, but Báquids continues to chase him with his soldiers. Below are five verses related to the topics covered in 1 Maccabees 9:
2 Samuel 2:26: "Then Abner called Joab and said," Will the sword happen to devour indefinitely? Don't you know that in the end there will be bitterness? This verse addresses the theme of persecution, which is one of the main questions in chapter 9 of 1 Maccabees, where Baquids pursues Judas Macabeu and his men.
2 Chronicles 20:15: "He said unto him, Listen to me, all of Judah and Jerusalem, and you, O Jehoshaphat! Thus saith the Lord about you: You do not fear, nor are you scary because of this great multitude. ; for the battle is not yours, but of God.
