1 Samuel, 5

3. And when the Ashdodites had risen up at first light on the next day, behold, Dagon was lying prone on the ground before the ark of the Lord. And they took Dagon, and they set him again in his place.

1 Samuel 5 describes the capture of the ark of the covenant by the Philistines and the problems they faced as a result of taking the sacred object of Israel. The chapter highlights the superiority of the God of Israel over the gods of the Philistines and how he manifested himself in judgment against pagan idols. Exodus 20:3-5: "Thou shalt not have other gods before me. Thou shalt not make any idol, no image of anything in heaven, on earth, or in the waters under the earth. Thou shalt not prostrate before them or worship them worship , because I, the Lord your God, I am a jealous God. " This verse emphasizes the importance of worshiping only the true God and not putting any other God before Him, which the Philistines ignored by trying to worship their idols.

1 Corinthians 10:20-22: "No, but what the pagans sacrifice is offered to demons, not God, and I do not want you to have communion with demons. You cannot drink from the chalice of the Lord and the chalice of demons. cannot participate in the table of the Lord and the table of demons. Or will we cause jealousy in the Lord? We are stronger than Him? " This verse emphasizes the importance of not mixing worship with God with pagan practices or worship with idols.
