Isaiah 15 describes the destruction of Moab, a neighboring people of Israel. The chapter narrates the affliction and despair of the Moabites in the face of the invasion and divine judgment. Next are five verses related to the topics addressed in Isaiah 15:
Jeremiah 48:46: "Woe to you, Moab! The people of whom he perished, because your children were taken captive to the captivity, and your daughters, to captivity." This verse talks about the capture and exile of the Moabites by the Babylonians, an event that was prophesied by Isaiah in his book.
Psalm 60:8: "The Moab I will throw my shoe; over Edom I will cry out loud; I do so, O Philistia, because of me." This verse expresses God's wrath against Moab and other enemy nations of Israel.
2 Kings 3:27: "Then he took his firstborn, who should reign in his place, and offered him in Holocaust on the wall. And there was great indignation in Israel; . " This verse reports an extreme act of human sacrifice committed by the Moabites in an attempt to escape defeat.
Jeremiah 48:35: "And I will end the one offers sacrifices in the ups, and what burns incense to their gods." This verse is a prophecy about the destruction of the altars of worship of pagan gods in Moab.
Ezekiel 25:8: "Thus saith the Lord Jehovah, For they mill and Seir say, Behold, the house of Judah is like all other nations." This verse highlights the hostility of the Moabites in relation to Judah, the sister nation of Israel.
