Jeremiah, 2

20. 'It is long ago now since you broke your yoke, burst your bonds and said, "I will not serve!" Yet on every high hill and under every green tree you have sprawled and played the whore.

They forgot God, his Savior, who had done great things in Egypt. Exodus 20:3: "You will not have other gods before me." This is the first commandment given to Moses by God, which emphasizes the importance of loving and worshiping only to God, not to other gods or idols.

Hosea 2:13: "She did not acknowledge that I was the one who gave her the wheat, the new wine and the oil, and multiply the silver and the gold, which they used for Baal." This verse describes how Israel forgot that God was the source of all his material blessings, giving his prosperity to Baal, a false God.
