Colossiens, 1

1. Paul, apôtre de Jésus-Christ par la volonté de Dieu, et son frère Timothée,

1. Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, and Timothy our brother,

2. aux saints qui sont à Colosses, nos fidèles frères dans le Christ : que la grâce et la paix soient sur vous de la part de Dieu notre Père [et du Seigneur Jésus-Christ] !

2. to the holy ones and faithful brothers in Christ in Colossae: grace to you and peace from God our Father.

3. Nous ne cessons de rendre grâces à Dieu, le Père de notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ, dans nos prières pour vous,

3. We always give thanks to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you,

4. depuis que nous avons entendu parler de votre foi en Jésus-Christ et de votre charité envers tous les saints,

4. for we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and the love that you have for all the holy ones

5. en vue de l'espérance qui vous est réservée dans les cieux et dont vous avez eu connaissance par la prédication de la vérité évangélique.

5. because of the hope reserved for you in heaven. Of this you have already heard through the word of truth, the gospel,

6. Elle est parvenue à vous, ainsi qu'au monde entier; elle porte des fruits et gagne du terrain, comme cela a eu lieu parmi vous, depuis les jours où vous l'avez entendue, et où vous avez connu la grâce de Dieu dans la vérité,

6. that has come to you. Just as in the whole world it is bearing fruit and growing, so also among you, from the day you heard it and came to know the grace of God in truth,

7. d'après les instructions que vous avez reçues d'Epaphras notre bien-aimé compagnon au service de Dieu, et près de vous le fidèle ministre du Christ;

7. as you learned it from Epaphras our beloved fellow slave, who is a trustworthy minister of Christ on your behalf

8. c'est lui qui nous a appris votre charité toute spirituelle.

8. and who also told us of your love in the Spirit.

9. C'est pourquoi, depuis le jour où nous en avons été informés, nous ne cessons de prier Dieu pour vous, et de demander que vous ayez la pleine connaissance de sa volonté en toute sagesse et intelligence spirituelle,

9. Therefore, from the day we heard this, we do not cease praying for you and asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding

10. pour vous conduire d'une manière digne du Seigneur et lui plaire en toutes choses, produisant du fruit en toutes sortes de bonnes ?uvres et faisant des progrès dans la connaissance de Dieu;

10. to live in a manner worthy of the Lord, so as to be fully pleasing, in every good work bearing fruit and growing in the knowledge of God,

11. fortifiés à tous égards par sa puissance glorieuse, pour tout supporter avec patience et avec joie;

11. strengthened with every power, in accord with his glorious might, for all endurance and patience, with joy

12. ? rendant grâces à [Dieu] le Père, qui nous a rendus capables d'avoir part à l'héritage des saints dans la lumière,

12. giving thanks to the Father, who has made you fit to share in the inheritance of the holy ones in light.

13. en nous délivrant de la puissance des ténèbres, pour nous transporter dans le royaume de son Fils bien-aimé,

13. He delivered us from the power of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son,

14. par le sang duquel nous avons la rédemption, la rémission des péchés.

14. in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

15. Il est l'image du Dieu invisible, né avant toute créature;

15. He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.

16. car c'est en lui que toutes choses ont été créées, celles qui sont dans les cieux et celles qui sont sur la terre, les choses visibles et les choses invisibles, Trônes, Dominations, Principautés, Puissances; tout a été créé par lui et pour lui.

16. For in him were created all things in heaven and on earth, the visible and the invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers; all things were created through him and for him.

17. Il est, lui, avant toutes choses, et toutes choses subsistent en lui.

17. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

18. Il est la tête du corps de l'Eglise, lui qui est le principe, le premier-né d'entre les morts, afin qu'en toutes choses, il tienne, lui, la première place.

18. He is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things he himself might be preeminent.

19. Car Dieu a voulu que toute la plénitude habitât en lui;

19. For in him all the fullness was pleased to dwell,

20. et il a voulu réconcilier par lui toutes choses avec lui-même, celles qui sont sur la terre, et celles qui sont dans les cieux, en faisant la paix par le sang de sa croix.

20. and through him to reconcile all things for him, making peace by the blood of his cross (through him), whether those on earth or those in heaven.

21. Vous aussi, qui étiez autrefois loin de lui et ennemis par vos pensées et par vos ?uvres mauvaises,

21. And you who once were alienated and hostile in mind because of evil deeds

22. il vous a maintenant réconciliés par la mort de son Fils en son corps charnel, pour vous faire paraître devant lui saints, sans tâche et sans reproche,

22. he has now reconciled in his fleshly body through his death, to present you holy, without blemish, and irreproachable before him,

23. si du moins vous demeurez fondés et affermis dans la foi, et inébranlables dans l'espérance donnée par l'Evangile que vous avez entendu, qui a été prêché à toute créature sous le ciel, et dont moi, Paul, j'ai été fait ministre.

23. provided that you persevere in the faith, firmly grounded, stable, and not shifting from the hope of the gospel that you heard, which has been preached to every creature under heaven, of which I, Paul, am a minister.

24. Maintenant je suis plein de joie dans mes souffrances pour vous, et ce qui manque aux souffrances du Christ en ma propre chair, je l'achève pour son corps, qui est l'Eglise.

24. Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I am filling up what is lacking in the afflictions of Christ on behalf of his body, which is the church,

25. J'en ai été fait ministre, en vue de la charge que Dieu m'a donnée auprès de vous, afin d'annoncer pleinement la parole de Dieu,

25. of which I am a minister in accordance with God's stewardship given to me to bring to completion for you the word of God,

26. le mystère caché aux siècles et aux générations passées, mais manifesté maintenant à ses saints,

26. the mystery hidden from ages and from generations past. But now it has been manifested to his holy ones,

27. à qui Dieu a voulu faire connaître combien est grande pour les Gentils la gloire de ce mystère qui est le Christ, en qui vous avez l'espérance de la gloire.

27. to whom God chose to make known the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; it is Christ in you, the hope for glory.

28. C'est lui que nous annonçons, avertissant tous les hommes, les instruisant en toute sagesse, afin que nous rendions tout homme parfait dans le Christ Jésus.

28. It is he whom we proclaim, admonishing everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone perfect in Christ.

29. C'est pour cela que je travaille, et que je lutte selon la force qu'il me donne, et qui agit en moi avec puissance.

29. For this I labor and struggle, in accord with the exercise of his power working within me.
