Leviticus, 17

1. Yahweh spoke to Moses and said:

2. 'Speak to Aaron and his sons and all the Israelites and say: "This is the order that Yahweh has given:

2. Rede zu Aaron, seinen Söhnen und allen Israeliten und sag zu ihnen: Das ist es, worauf der Herr euch verpflichtet hat:

3. "Any man of the House of Israel who slaughters a bull, lamb or goat, whether inside the camp or outside it,

3. Jeder Mann aus dem Haus Israel, der innerhalb oder außerhalb des Lagers ein Rind, ein Schaf oder eine Ziege schlachtet

4. without bringing it to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting to make an offering of it to Yahweh in front of his Dwelling, that man will be answerable for bloodshed; he has shed blood, and that man will be outlawed from his people.

4. und das Tier nicht zum Eingang des Offenbarungszeltes bringt, um es dem Herrn vor seiner Wohnstätte zu opfern, dem soll es als Blutschuld angerechnet werden; er hat Blut vergossen und soll aus der Mitte seines Volkes ausgemerzt werden.

5. The purpose of this is that the Israelites should instead bring their sacrifices, which they would otherwise offer in the countryside, to Yahweh at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting, to the priest, and offer them as communion sacrifices to Yahweh;

5. Daher sollen die Israeliten die Opfer, die sie (jetzt noch) auf dem freien Feld schlachten, dem Priester für den Herrn zum Eingang des Offenbarungszeltes bringen und sie als Heilsopfer für den Herrn schlachten.

6. and the priest will sprinkle the blood on Yahweh's altar at the entrance to the Tent of Meeting and will burn the fat as a smell pleasing to Yahweh.

6. Der Priester soll das Blut auf den Altar des Herrn am Eingang des Offenbarungszeltes gießen und das Fett zum beruhigenden Duft für den Herrn in Rauch aufgehen lassen.

7. No longer may they offer their sacrifices to the satyrs in whose service they used to prostitute themselves. This is a perpetual law for them and for their descendants."

7. Sie sollen nicht mehr ihre Schlachtopfer für Bocksdämonen schlachten, mit denen sie Unzucht treiben. Das gelte ihnen und ihren kommenden Generationen als feste Regel.

8. 'You will also say to them, "Any member of the House of Israel or any resident alien who offers a burnt offering or sacrifice

8. Du sollst ihnen weiter sagen: Jeder Mann aus dem Haus Israel oder jeder Fremde in eurer Mitte, der ein Brand- oder Schlachtopfer darbringt,

9. without bringing it to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting to offer it to Yahweh, will be outlawed from his people.

9. ohne es zum Eingang des Offenbarungszeltes zu bringen, um es für den Herrn zu vollziehen, soll aus seinen Stammesgenossen ausgemerzt werden.

10. "If any member of the House of Israel or any resident alien consumes blood of any kind, I shall set my face against that individual who consumes blood and shall outlaw him from his people.

10. Jeder Mann aus dem Haus Israel oder jeder Fremde in eurer Mitte, der irgendwie Blut genießt, gegen einen solchen werde ich mein Angesicht wenden und ihn aus der Mitte seines Volkes ausmerzen.

11. For the life of the creature is in the blood, and I have given it to you for performing the rite of expiation on the altar for your lives, for blood is what expiates for a life.

11. Die Lebenskraft des Fleisches sitzt nämlich im Blut. Dieses Blut habe ich euch gegeben, damit ihr auf dem Altar für euer Leben die Sühne vollzieht; denn das Blut ist es, das für ein Leben sühnt.

12. That is why I told the Israelites: None of you will consume blood, nor will any resident alien consume blood.

12. Deshalb habe ich zu den Israeliten gesagt: Niemand unter euch darf Blut genießen, auch der Fremde, der in eurer Mitte lebt, darf kein Blut genießen.

13. "Anyone, whether Israelite or resident alien, who hunts and catches game, whether animal or bird, which it is lawful to eat, must pour out its blood and cover it with earth.

13. Jeder unter den Israeliten oder der Fremde in eurer Mitte, der Wild oder für den Genuss erlaubte Vögel erlegt, muss das Blut ausfließen lassen und es mit Erde bedecken.

14. For the life of every creature is its blood, and I have told the Israelites: You will not consume the blood of any creature, for the life of every creature is its blood, and anyone who consumes it will be outlawed.

14. Denn das Leben aller Wesen aus Fleisch ist das Blut, das darin ist. Ich habe zu den Israeliten gesagt: Das Blut irgendeines Wesens aus Fleisch dürft ihr nicht genießen; denn das Leben aller Wesen aus Fleisch ist ihr Blut. Jeder, der es genießt, soll ausgemerzt werden.

15. "Anyone, citizen or alien, who eats an animal that has died a natural death or been savaged, must wash clothing and body, and will be unclean until evening, but will then be clean.

15. Jeder, sei er einheimisch oder fremd, der ein verendetes oder zerrissenes Tier isst, muss seine Kleider waschen, sich in Wasser baden und ist unrein bis zum Abend; dann ist er rein.

16. But anyone who does not wash clothing and body will bear the consequences of his guilt." '

16. Wer seine Kleider nicht wäscht und seinen Körper nicht in Wasser badet, muss die Folgen seiner Schuld tragen.
