Jeremiah, 28

1. That same year, at the beginning of the reign of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the fifth month of the fourth year, the prophet Hananiah son of Azzur, a Gibeonite, spoke as follows to Jeremiah in the Temple of Yahweh in the presence of the priests and of all the people,

1. Im selben Jahr, im Anfang der Regierung Zidkijas, des Königs von Juda, im fünften Monat des vierten Jahres, sagte der Prophet Hananja, der Sohn Asurs aus Gibeon, im Haus des Herrn vor den Priestern und dem ganzen Volk zu Jeremia:

2. 'Yahweh Sabaoth, the God of Israel, says this, "I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon.

2. So spricht der Herr der Heere, der Gott Israels: Ich zerbreche das Joch des Königs von Babel.

3. In exactly two years' time I shall bring back all the vessels of the Temple of Yahweh which Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon took away from here and carried off to Babylon.

3. Noch zwei Jahre und ich bringe alle Geräte des Hauses des Herrn, die Nebukadnezzar, der König von Babel, von diesem Ort weggenommen und nach Babel gebracht hat, wieder an diesen Ort zurück.

4. And I shall also bring back Jeconiah son of Jehoiakim, king of Judah and all the exiles of Judah who have gone to Babylon, Yahweh declares, for I shall break the yoke of the king of Babylon." '

4. Auch Jojachin, den Sohn Jojakims, den König von Juda, samt allen Verschleppten aus Juda, die nach Babel gebracht wurden, führe ich an diesen Ort zurück - Spruch des Herrn -; denn ich zerbreche das Joch des Königs von Babel.

5. The prophet Jeremiah then replied to the prophet Hananiah in front of the priests and all the people present in the Temple of Yahweh.

5. Der Prophet Jeremia antwortete dem Propheten Hananja vor den Priestern und vor dem ganzen Volk, das im Haus des Herrn stand.

6. 'So be it!' the prophet Jeremiah said, 'May Yahweh do so! May he fulfil the words that you have prophesied and bring all the vessels of the Temple of Yahweh and all the exiles back to this place from Babylon.

6. Der Prophet Jeremia sagte: Ganz recht! Mag der Herr so tun. Der Herr erfülle deine Worte, die du verkündet hast, und bringe die Geräte des Hauses des Herrn und alle Verschleppten aus Babel zurück an diesen Ort.

7. Listen carefully, however, to this word that I am now going to say for you and all the people to hear:

7. Doch höre das Wort, das ich dir und dem ganzen Volk in die Ohren rufe:

8. From remote times, the prophets who preceded you and me prophesied war, disaster and plague for many countries and for great kingdoms;

8. Die Propheten, die vor mir und vor dir je gelebt haben, weissagten Krieg, Unheil und Pest gegen viele Länder und mächtige Reiche.

9. the prophet who prophesies peace can be recognised as one truly sent by Yahweh only when his word comes true.'

9. Der Prophet aber, der Heil weissagt - an der Erfüllung des prophetischen Wortes erkennt man den Propheten, den der Herr wirklich gesandt hat.

10. The prophet Hananiah then snatched the yoke off the neck of the prophet Jeremiah and broke it.

10. Da nahm der Prophet Hananja das Jochholz vom Nacken des Propheten Jeremia und brach es entzwei.

11. In front of all the people Hananiah then said, 'Yahweh says this, "This is how, in exactly two years' time, I shall break the yoke of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and take it off the necks of all the nations." ' At this, the prophet Jeremiah went away.

11. Vor dem ganzen Volk erklärte Hananja: So spricht der Herr: Ebenso nehme ich binnen zwei Jahren das Joch Nebukadnezzars, des Königs von Babel, vom Nacken aller Völker und zerbreche es. Der Prophet Jeremia ging seines Weges.

12. After the prophet Hananiah had broken the yoke he had snatched off the prophet Jeremiah's neck, the word of Yahweh came to Jeremiah,

12. Nachdem nun der Prophet Hananja das Jochholz vom Nacken des Propheten Jeremia genommen und zerbrochen hatte, erging das Wort des Herrn an Jeremia:

13. 'Go to Hananiah and tell him this, "Yahweh says this: You have broken the wooden yokes only to make iron yokes to replace them!

13. Geh und sag zu Hananja: So spricht der Herr: Jochstangen aus Holz hast du zerbrochen, dafür aber musst du nun Jochstangen aus Eisen machen.

14. For Yahweh Sabaoth, the God of Israel, says this: An iron yoke is what I now lay on the necks of all these nations to enslave them to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon. (They will be enslaved to him; I have even given him the wild animals.)" '

14. Denn so spricht der Herr der Heere, der Gott Israels: Ein eisernes Joch habe ich auf den Nacken aller dieser Völker gelegt; sie müssen Nebukadnezzar, dem König von Babel, untertan sein. [Sie werden ihm untertan sein und auch die Tiere des Feldes gebe ich ihm.]

15. The prophet Jeremiah said to the prophet Hananiah, 'Listen carefully, Hananiah: Yahweh has not sent you; and thanks to you this people is now relying on what is false.

15. Der Prophet Jeremia sagte also zum Propheten Hananja: Höre, Hananja! Der Herr hat dich nicht gesandt und du hast dieses Volk dazu verführt, auf Lügen zu vertrauen.

16. And so, Yahweh says this, "I am going to send you off the face of the earth: you will die this year (since you have preached rebellion against Yahweh)." '

16. Darum - so spricht der Herr: Siehe, ich schaffe dich vom Erdboden fort. Noch in diesem Jahr bist du tot; denn du hast Auflehnung gegen den Herrn gepredigt.

17. The prophet Hananiah died the same year, in the seventh month.

17. Im siebten Monat desselben Jahres starb der Prophet Hananja.
