II Corintios, 12

1. ¿Que hay que gloriarse? - aunque no trae ninguna utilidad -; pues vendré a las visiones y revelaciones del Señor.

1. I must boast; there is nothing to be gained by it, but I will go on to visions and revelations of the Lord.

2. Sé de un hombre en Cristo, el cual hace catorce años - si en el cuerpo o fuera del cuerpo no lo sé, Dios lo sabe - fue arrebatado hasta el tercer cielo.

2. I know a man in Christ who fourteen years ago was caught up to the third heaven -- whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows.

3. Y sé que este hombre - en el cuerpo o fuera del cuerpo del cuerpo no lo sé, Dios lo sabe -

3. And I know that this man was caught up into Paradise -- whether in the body or out of the body I do not know, God knows --

4. fue arrebatado al paraíso y oyó palabras inefables que el hombre no puede pronunciar.

4. and he heard things that cannot be told, which man may not utter.

5. De ese tal me gloriaré; pero en cuanto a mí, sólo me gloriaré en mis flaquezas.

5. On behalf of this man I will boast, but on my own behalf I will not boast, except of my weaknesses.

6. Si pretendiera gloriarme no haría el fatuo, diría la verdad. Pero me abstengo de ello. No sea que alguien se forme de mí una idea superior a lo que en mí ve u oye de mí.

6. Though if I wish to boast, I shall not be a fool, for I shall be speaking the truth. But I refrain from it, so that no one may think more of me than he sees in me or hears from me.

7. Y por eso, para que no me engría con la sublimidad de esas revelaciones, fue dado un aguijón a mi carne, un ángel de Satanás que me abofetea para que no me engría.

7. And to keep me from being too elated by the abundance of revelations, a thorn was given me in the flesh, a messenger of Satan, to harass me, to keep me from being too elated.

8. Por este motivo tres veces rogué al Señor que se alejase de mí.

8. Three times I besought the Lord about this, that it should leave me;

9. Pero él me dijo: «Mi gracia te basta, que mi fuerza se muestra perfecta en la flaqueza». Por tanto, con sumo gusto seguiré gloriándome sobre todo en mis flaquezas, para que habite en mí la fuerza de Cristo.

9. but he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." I will all the more gladly boast of my weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

10. Por eso me complazco en mis flaquezas, en las injurias, en las necesidades, en las persecuciones y las angustias sufridas por Cristo; pues, cuando estoy débil, entonces es cuando soy fuerte.

10. For the sake of Christ, then, I am content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities; for when I am weak, then I am strong.

11. ¡Vedme aquí hecho un loco! Vosotros me habéis obligado. Pues vosotros debíais recomendarme, porque en nada he sido inferior a esos «superapóstoles», aunque nada soy.

11. I have been a fool! You forced me to it, for I ought to have been commended by you. For I was not at all inferior to these superlative apostles, even though I am nothing.

12. Las características del apóstol se vieron cumplidas entre vosotros: paciencia perfecta en los sufrimientos y también señales, prodigios y milagros.

12. The signs of a true apostle were performed among you in all patience, with signs and wonders and mighty works.

13. Pues ¿en qué habéis sido inferiores a las demás Iglesias, excepto en no haberos sido yo gravoso? ¡Perdonadme este agravio!

13. For in what were you less favored than the rest of the churches, except that I myself did not burden you? Forgive me this wrong!

14. Mirad, es la tercera vez que estoy a punto de ir a vosotros, y no os seré gravoso, pues no busco vuestras cosas sino a vosotros. Efectivamente, no corresponde a los hijos atesorar para los padres, sino a los padres atesorar para los hijos.

14. Here for the third time I am ready to come to you. And I will not be a burden, for I seek not what is yours but you; for children ought not to lay up for their parents, but parents for their children.

15. Por mi parte, muy gustosamente gastaré y me desgastaré totalmente por vuestras almas. Amándoos más ¿seré yo menos amado?

15. I will most gladly spend and be spent for your souls. If I love you the more, am I to be loved the less?

16. Es verdad, en nada os fui gravoso; pero en mi astucia, os capturé con dolo.

16. But granting that I myself did not burden you, I was crafty, you say, and got the better of you by guile.

17. ¿Acaso os exploté por alguno de los que os envié?

17. Did I take advantage of you through any of those whom I sent to you?

18. Invité a Tito y mandé con él al hermano. ¿Os ha explotado acaso Tito? ¿No hemos obrado según el mismo espíritu? ¿No hemos seguido las mismas huellas?

18. I urged Titus to go, and sent the brother with him. Did Titus take advantage of you? Did we not act in the same spirit? Did we not take the same steps?

19. Hace tiempo, pensáis, que nos estamos justificando delante de vosotros. Delante de Dios, en Cristo, estamos hablando. Y todo esto, queridos míos, para edificación vuestra.

19. Have you been thinking all along that we have been defending ourselves before you? It is in the sight of God that we have been speaking in Christ, and all for your upbuilding, beloved.

20. En efecto, temo que a mi llegada no os encuentre como yo querría; ni me encontréis como querríais: que haya discordias, envidias, iras, disputas, calumnias, murmuraciones, insolencias, desórdenes.

20. For I fear that perhaps I may come and find you not what I wish, and that you may find me not what you wish; that perhaps there may be quarreling, jealousy, anger, selfishness, slander, gossip, conceit, and disorder.

21. Temo que en mi próxima visita el Señor me humille por causa vuestra y tenga que llorar por muchos que anteriormente pecaron y no se convirtieron de sus actos de impureza, fornicación y libertinaje.

21. I fear that when I come again my God may humble me before you, and I may have to mourn over many of those who sinned before and have not repented of the impurity, immorality, and licentiousness which they have practiced.
