1 Maccabees, 9

54. Now in the second month of the one hundred and fifty-third year, Alcimus instructed that the walls of the inner court of the sanctuary be destroyed, and that the works of the prophets be destroyed. And he began to destroy them.

1 Maccabees 9 describes the war between the armies of Judas Macabeu and Baquids, General of the Seleucid King. Psalm 44:6: "I don't trust my bow, nor can my sword save me." This verse deals with the theme of confidence in weapons and physical strength. In 1 Maccabees 9, Judas Macabeu and his men are overcome by the soldiers of baquids, but trust God to help them overcome the battle.

" This verse deals with the theme of Divine Protection, which is an important element in 1 Maccabees 9. Both sides trust God to protect them in battle.
