1. [For the choirmaster For strings Psalm Of Asaph Song] God is acknowledged in Judah, his name is great in Israel,
1. In Judah God is known, his name is great in Israel.
2. his tent is pitched in Salem, his dwelling is in Zion;
2. His abode has been established in Salem, his dwelling place in Zion.
3. there he has broken the lightning-flashes of the bow, shield and sword and war.Pause
3. There he broke the flashing arrows, the shield, the sword, and the weapons of war. [Selah]
4. Radiant you are, and renowned for the mountains of booty
4. Glorious art thou, more majestic than the everlasting mountains.
5. taken from them. Heroes are now sleeping their last sleep, the warriors' arms have failed them;
5. The stouthearted were stripped of their spoil; they sank into sleep; all the men of war were unable to use their hands.
6. at your reproof, God of Jacob, chariot and horse stand stunned.
6. At thy rebuke, O God of Jacob, both rider and horse lay stunned.
7. You, you alone, strike terror! Who can hold his ground in your presence when your anger strikes?
7. But thou, terrible art thou! Who can stand before thee when once thy anger is roused?
8. From heaven your verdicts thunder, the earth is silent with dread

9. when God takes his stand to give judgement, to save all the humble of the earth.Pause

10. Human anger serves only to praise you, the survivors of your anger will huddle round you.
10. Surely the wrath of men shall praise thee; the residue of wrath thou wilt gird upon thee.
11. Make and fulfil your vows to Yahweh your God, let those who surround him make offerings to the Awesome One.
11. Make your vows to the LORD your God, and perform them; let all around him bring gifts to him who is to be feared,
12. He cuts short the breath of princes, strikes terror in earthly kings.
12. who cuts off the spirit of princes, who is terrible to the kings of the earth.
