Amos, 9

1. I saw the Lord standing by the altar, and he said, 'Strike the top of the pillar so that the thresholds shake! Smash their heads in, one and all! And I shall put any survivors to the sword; whoever runs away will not run far, whoever escapes will not make good his escape.

1. Ich sah den Herrn beim Altar stehen. / Er sagte: Zerschlag den Knauf der Säule, / sodass die Tragbalken zittern. Ich zerschmettere allen den Kopf. / Was dann von ihnen noch übrig ist, / töte ich mit dem Schwert. Keiner von ihnen kann entfliehen, / keiner entrinnt, keiner entkommt.

2. Should they burrow into Sheol, my hand will haul them out; should they climb to heaven, I shall bring them down.

2. Wenn sie in die Totenwelt einbrechen: / meine Hand packt sie auch dort. Und wenn sie zum Himmel aufsteigen: / ich hole sie von dort herunter.

3. Should they hide on the top of Carmel, I shall track them down and catch them; should they hide from me on the sea bed, I shall order the Serpent there to bite them;

3. Wenn sie sich auf dem Gipfel des Karmel verstecken: / ich spüre sie dort auf und ergreife sie. Wenn sie sich vor mir auf dem Grund des Meeres verbergen, / dann gebiete ich der Seeschlange, sie zu beißen.

4. if their enemies herd them into captivity, I shall order the sword to kill them there, and I shall fix my eyes on them for evil and not for good.'

4. Und wenn sie vor ihren Feinden her in die Gefangenschaft ziehen, / dann befehle ich dort dem Schwert, sie zu töten. Ich habe meine Augen auf sie gerichtet / zu ihrem Unheil, nicht zu ihrem Glück.

5. Lord Yahweh Sabaoth- he touches the earth and it melts, and all living things on it lament, as all rises together like the Nile in Egypt and then subsides like the Egyptian Nile.

5. Gott, der Herr der Heere, / er berührt die Erde, sodass sie vergeht / und all ihre Bewohner voll Trauer sind, sodass die ganze Erde sich hebt wie der Nil / und sich senkt wie der Strom von Ägypten.

6. He who builds his mansions in the heavens, supporting his vault on the earth; who summons the waters of the sea and pours them over the surface of the land: Yahweh is his name.

6. Er erbaut seine Hallen im Himmel / und gründet sein Gewölbe auf die Erde; er ruft das Wasser des Meeres / und gießt es aus über die Erde - / Jahwe ist sein Name.

7. Are not you and the Cushites all the same to me, children of Israel? - declares Yahweh. Did I not bring Israel up from Egypt and the Philistines from Caphtor, and the Aramaeans from Kir?

7. Seid ihr für mich mehr als die Kuschiter, ihr Israeliten? - / Spruch des Herrn. Wohl habe ich Israel aus Ägypten heraufgeführt, / aber ebenso die Philister aus Kaftor / und die Aramäer aus Kir.

8. Look, Lord Yahweh's eyes are on the sinful kingdom, I shall wipe it off the face of the earth, although I shall not destroy the House of Jacob completely -declares Yahweh.

8. Die Augen Gottes, des Herrn, / sind auf das sündige Königreich gerichtet. Ich lasse es vom Erdboden verschwinden; / doch ich werde das Haus Jakob nicht völlig vernichten - / Spruch des Herrn.

9. For look, I shall give the command and shall shake out the House of Israel among all nations as a sieve is shaken out without one grain falling on the ground.

9. Ja, seht, ich selbst gebe den Befehl, / ich schüttle unter allen Völkern das Haus Israel, wie man (Korn) schüttelt in einem Sieb, / ohne dass ein Stein zu Boden fällt.

10. All the sinners of my people will perish by the sword, who say, 'Disaster will never approach or overtake us.'

10. Alle Sünder meines Volkes / sollen durch das Schwert umkommen, alle, die sagen: Das Unheil erreicht uns nicht, / es holt uns nicht ein.

11. On that Day, I shall rebuild the tottering hut of David, make good the gaps in it, restore its ruins and rebuild it as it was in the days of old,

11. An jenem Tag richte ich die zerfallene Hütte Davids wieder auf / und bessere ihre Risse aus, ich richte ihre Trümmer auf / und stelle alles wieder her / wie in den Tagen der Vorzeit,

12. for them to be master of what is left of Edom and of all the nations once called mine -Yahweh declares, and he will perform it.

12. damit sie den Rest von Edom unterwerfen / und alle Völker, über denen mein Name ausgerufen ist - / Spruch des Herrn, der das alles bewirkt.

13. The days are coming- declares Yahweh- when the ploughman will tread on the heels of the reaper, and the treader of grapes on the heels of the sower of seed, and the mountains will run with new wine and the hills all flow with it.

13. Seht, es kommen Tage - Spruch des Herrn -, / da folgt der Pflüger dem Schnitter auf dem Fuß / und der Keltertreter dem Sämann; da triefen die Berge von Wein / und alle Hügel fließen über.

14. I shall restore the fortunes of my people Israel; they will rebuild the ruined cities and live in them, they will plant vineyards and drink their wine, they will lay out gardens and eat their produce.

14. Dann wende ich das Geschick meines Volkes Israel. / Sie bauen die verwüsteten Städte wieder auf und wohnen darin; sie pflanzen Weinberge und trinken den Wein, / sie legen Gärten an und essen die Früchte.

15. And I shall plant them in their own soil and they will never be uprooted again from the country which I have given them, declares Yahweh, your God.

15. Und ich pflanze sie ein in ihrem Land / und nie mehr werden sie ausgerissen aus ihrem Land, das ich ihnen gegeben habe, spricht der Herr, dein Gott.
