2 Samuel, 22

1. David adressa à Yahweh les paroles de ce cantique, au jour où Yahweh l'eut délivré de la main de tous ses ennemis et de la main de Saül.

1. David sang the words of this song to the LORD when the LORD had rescued him from the grasp of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul.

2. Il dit: Yahweh est mon rocher, ma forteresse, mon libérateur,

2. This is what he sang: I "O LORD, my rock, my fortress, my deliverer,

3. Dieu est mon roc où je trouve un asile, mon bouclier, la corne de mon salut, ma haute retraite et mon refuge. Mon Sauveur, tu m'as sauvé de la violence.

3. my God, my rock of refuge! My shield, the horn of my salvation, my stronghold, my refuge, my savior, from violence you keep me safe.

4. J'invoquai celui qui est digne de louange, Yahweh, et je fus délivré de mes ennemis.

4. 'Praised be the LORD,' I exclaim, and I am safe from my enemies.

5. Car les vagues de la mort m'environnaient, les torrents de Bélial m'épouvantaient.

5. "The breakers of death surged round about me, the floods of perdition overwhelmed me;

6. Les liens du schéol m'enlaçaient, les filets de la mort étaient tombés devant moi.

6. The cords of the nether world enmeshed me, the snares of death overtook me.

7. Dans ma détresse, j'invoquai Yahweh, et je criai vers mon Dieu; de son temple il entendit ma voix, et mon cri parvint à ses oreilles.

7. In my distress I called upon the LORD and cried out to my God; From his temple he heard my voice, and my cry reached his ears.

8. La terre fut ébranlée et trembla, les fondements du ciel s'agitèrent; ils furent ébranlés, parce qu'il était courroucé;

8. "The earth swayed and quaked; the foundations of the heavens trembled and shook when his wrath flared up.

9. une fumée montait de ses narines, et un feu dévorant sortait de sa bouche; il en jaillisait des charbons embrasés.

9. Smoke rose from his nostrils, and a devouring fire from his mouth; he kindled coals into flame.

10. Il abaissa les cieux, et descendit; une sombre nuée était sous ses pieds.

10. He inclined the heavens and came down, with dark clouds under his feet.

11. Il monta sur un Chérubin, et il volait, il apparut sur les ailes du vent.

11. He mounted a cherub and flew, borne on the wings of the wind.

12. Il s'entoura des ténèbres comme d'une tente, d'amas d'eaux et de sombres nuages.

12. He made darkness the shelter about him, with spattering rain and thickening clouds.

13. De l'éclat qui le précédait jaillissaient des charbons de feu.

13. From the brightness of his presence coals were kindled to flame.

14. Yahweh tonna des cieux, le Très-Haut fit retentir sa voix.

14. "The LORD thundered from heaven; the Most High gave forth his voice.

15. Il lança des flèches et les dispersa, la foudre, et il les confondit.

15. He sent forth arrows to put them to flight; he flashed lightning and routed them.

16. Alors le lit de la mer apparut, les fondements de la terre furent mis à nu; à la menace de Yahweh, au souffle du vent de ses narines.

16. Then the wellsprings of the sea appeared, the foundations of the earth were laid bare, At the rebuke of the LORD, at the blast of the wind of his wrath.

17. Il étendit sa main d'en haut et me saisit, il me retira des grandes eaux;

17. "He reached out from on high and grasped me; he drew me out of the deep waters.

18. il me délivra de mon ennemi puissant, de ceux qui me haïssaient, alors qu'ils étaient plus forts que moi.

18. He rescued me from my mighty enemy, from my foes, who were too powerful for me.

19. Ils m'avaient surpris au jour de mon malheur, mais Yahweh fut mon appui.

19. They attacked me on my day of calamity, but the LORD came to my support.

20. Il m'a mis au large, il m'a sauvé, parce qu'il s'est complu en moi.

20. He set me free in the open, and rescued me, because he loves me.

21. Yahweh m'a récompensé selon ma justice, il m'a rendu selon la pureté de mes mains.

21. "The LORD rewarded me according to my justice; according to the cleanness of my hands he requited me.

22. Car j'ai gardé les voies de Yahweh, et je n'ai pas péché, pour m'éloigner de mon Dieu.

22. For I kept the ways of the LORD and was not disloyal to my God.

23. Tous ses jugements étaient devant moi, et je ne m'écartais pas de ses lois.

23. For his ordinances were all present to me, and his statutes I put not from me;

24. J'étais sans reproche envers lui, et je me tenais en garde contre mon iniquité.

24. But I was wholehearted toward him, and I was on my guard against guilt.

25. Yahweh m'a rendu selon ma justice, selon ma pureté devant ses yeux.

25. And the LORD requited me according to my justice, according to my innocence in his sight.

26. Avec celui qui est bon, tu te montres bon, avec l'homme droit, tu te montres droit;

26. "Toward the faithful you are faithful; toward the wholehearted you are wholehearted;

27. avec celui qui est pur, tu te montres pur, et avec le fourbe, tu agis perfidement.

27. Toward the sincere you are sincere; but toward the crooked you are astute.

28. Tu sauves le peuple humilié, et de ton regard tu abaisses les orgueilleux.

28. You save lowly people, though on the lofty your eyes look down.

29. Car tu es ma lumière, ô Yahweh; Yahweh éclaire mes ténèbres.

29. You are my lamp, O LORD! O my God, you brighten the darkness about me.

30. Avec toi je me précipite sur les bataillons armés. Avec mon Dieu je franchis les murailles.

30. For with your aid I run against an armed band, and by the help of my God I leap over a wall.

31. Dieu!... Ses voies sont parfaites, la parole de Yahweh est éprouvée; il est un bouclier pour tous ceux qui se confient en lui.

31. God's way is unerring; the promise of the LORD is fire-tried; he is a shield to all who take refuge in him."

32. Car qui est Dieu, si ce n'est Yahweh, et qui est un rocher, si ce n'est notre Dieu?

32. "For who is God except the LORD? Who is a rock save our God?

33. Dieu est ma forte citadelle, il conduit l'homme intègre dans sa voie,

33. The God who girded me with strength and kept my way unerring;

34. Il rend mes pieds semblables à ceux des biches, et il me fait tenir debout sur mes hauteurs.

34. Who made my feet swift as those of hinds and set me on the heights;

35. Il forme mes mains au combat, et mes bras tendent l'arc d'airain.

35. Who trained my hands for war till my arms could bend a bow of brass.

36. Tu m'as donné le bouclier de ton salut, et ta douleur me fait grandir.

36. "You have given me your saving shield, and your help has made me great.

37. Tu élargis mon pas au-dessous de moi, et mes pieds ne chancellent point.

37. You made room for my steps; unwavering was my stride.

38. Je poursuis mes ennemis et je les détruis; je ne reviens pas sans les avoir anéantis.

38. I pursued my enemies and destroyed them, nor did I turn again till I made an end of them.

39. Je les anéantis, je les brise, ils ne se relèvent pas; ils tombent sous mes peids.

39. I smote them and they did not rise; they fell beneath my feet.

40. Tu me ceins de force pour le combat, tu fais plier sous moi mes adversaires.

40. "You girded me with strength for war; you subdued my adversaries beneath me.

41. Mes ennemis, tu leur fais tourner le dos devant moi, comme à ceux qui me haïssent, pour que je les extermine.

41. My enemies you put to flight before me and those who hated me I destroyed.

42. Ils regardent, et personne qui les sauve! Ils crient vers Yahweh, et il ne leur répond pas!

42. They cried for help-but no one saved them; to the LORD--but he answered them not.

43. Je les broie comme la poussière de la terre; comme la boue des rues, je les écrase, je les foule.

43. I ground them fine as the dust of the earth; like the mud in the streets I trampled them down.

44. Tu me délivres des révoltes de mon peuple; tu me conserves pour chef des nations; un peuple que je ne connaissais pas m'est asservi.

44. "You rescued me from the strife of my people; you made me head over nations. A people I had not known became my slaves;

45. Les fils de l'étranger me flattent, dès qu'ils ont entendu, ils m'obéissent.

45. as soon as they heard me, they obeyed.

46. Les fils de l'étranger sont défaillants, ils sortent tremblants de leurs forterresses.

46. The foreigners fawned and cringed before me; they staggered forth from their fortresses."

47. Vive Yahweh et béni soit mon rocher! Dieu, mon rocher de refuge, qu'il soit exalté!

47. "The LORD live! And blessed be my Rock! Extolled be my God, rock of my salvation.

48. Dieu, qui m'accorde des vengeances, qui fait descendre les peuples sous mes pieds,

48. O God, who granted me vengeance, who made peoples subject to me

49. qui me fait échapper à mes ennemis; toi qui m'élèves au-dessus de mes adversaires, qui me délivres de l'homme de violence.

49. and helped me escape from my enemies, Above my adversaries you exalt me and from the violent man you rescue me.

50. C'est pourquoi je te louerai parmi les nations, ô Yahweh, et je chanterai à la gloire de ton nom.

50. Therefore will I proclaim you, O LORD, among the nations, and I will sing praise to your name,

51. Il accorde de glorieuses délivrances à son roi, il fait miséricorde à son oint, à David et à sa postérité pour toujours.

51. You who gave great victories to your king and showed kindness to your anointed, to David and his posterity forever."
