Chapter 4 of Ephesians deals with the unity of the body of Christ, where believers are called to live worthy of the call they received, with humility, meekness and love. The chapter highlights the importance of communion between the members of the body of Christ and the need to get rid of sinful behaviors. Below are five verses in order of proximity to the themes of the chapter, excluding the verses of Ephesians 4.
Proverbs 15:1: "The mild answer deflects the furor, but the word lasts raises anger." This verse highlights the importance of responding with mild and kind words, rather than harsh and rude words that can cause anger and conflict.
1 Peter 3:8: "Finally, thirst all of the same courage, compassionate, fraternally friends, merciful, humble." Peter urges believers to be "equal courage", showing compassion, fraternal friendship, mercy, and humility to each other.
Colossians 3:13: "SUPPORT ONE OTHERS, FORGIVE TO YOU SEEFLY If anyone has a reason for complaining against others. Just as the Lord forgave you, so forgive you." This verse highlights the need to endure and forgive each other as an expression of the love that Christ has for us.
1 John 4:20: "If anyone claims," I love God, "but hate his brother is a liar, for he who does not love his brother, whom he sees, cannot love God, whom he does not see." John emphasizes that it is impossible to love God and hate his brother, because God's love leads us to love each other.
Ephesians 5:18: "And you do not drunk with wine, in which there is debauchery, but fill you from the Spirit." This verse highlights the importance of being full of the Holy Spirit, rather than surrendering to sinful behaviors, such as drunkenness.
