2 Chronicles, 28

15. Four men were appointed to provide the prisoners with clothing. From the loot they clothed all those who were naked; they gave them clothing and sandals, provided them with food and drink, and washed them. Those who were too weak to walk they put on donkeys and took them back to their kinsmen at Jericho, the city of palm trees. Then they returned to Samaria.

2 Chronicles 28 narrates the story of King Ahaz of Judah, who did not follow the ways of the Lord, but surrendered to idolatry and evil. He made a covenant with the Assyrians, but it only brought more problems to his kingdom. Below are five verses related to the topics covered in this chapter:

Deuteronomy 12:31: "Do not do, therefore, thus to the Lord, your God; for every abominable thing that the Lord bored did them to their gods; for even their children and their daughters burned in fire to their gods." This verse talks about the importance of not practicing idolatry and avoiding everything that is abominable to the Lord. Ahaz, however, surrendered to these practices.

Psalm 106:36-37: "They served their idols, who became a bond for them. They sacrificed their children and their daughters to demons." This psalm talks about how the children of Israel moved away from God and surrendered to idolatry, including sacrificing their children to idols. Ahaz also sacrificed his children to the pagan gods.

Isaiah 7:2: "Then they announced to the house of David, saying, Syria made a covenant with Efraim. And he shaved his heart and the heart of his people, as the trees of the woods shake with the wind." This verse talks about how Ahaz was afraid when he learned that Syria and Ephraim had made a covenant against him. This led him to seek help from the Assyrians instead of trusting God.

Jeremiah 2:19: "Your wickedness shall punish you, and your apostasies will rebuke you; you know, and see, that evil and how bitter you are to the Lord, your God, and you do not have in you my fear, says Lord God of hosts. " This verse talks about how evil and apostasy have bitter consequences. Ahaz reaped the fruits of his disobedience and lack of fear to the Lord.

Hosea 8:7: "For they have sown winds, and will searches storm; This verse talks about how those who plant seeds of evil will harvest the storm. Ahaz planted seeds of idolatry and alliances with pagan nations, and this resulted in torment to his people.
