Isaiah, 58

2. They seek for me day after day, they long to know my ways, like a nation that has acted uprightly and not forsaken the law of its God. They ask me for laws that are upright, they long to be near God:

The people of Israel were performing their religious rituals, but they were not practicing justice and mercy, which was God's true objective. Proverbs 21:3: "Doing justice and judging with righteousness is more acceptable to the Lord than offering sacrifices." This verse shows that the Lord values ​​justice more than religious rituals.
