Genesis, 7

1. Yahweh said to Noah, 'Go aboard the ark, you and all your household, for you alone of your contemporaries do I see before me as an upright man.

1. Darauf sprach der Herr zu Noach: Geh in die Arche, du und dein ganzes Haus, denn ich habe gesehen, dass du unter deinen Zeitgenossen vor mir gerecht bist.

2. Of every clean animal you must take seven pairs, a male and its female; of the unclean animals you must take one pair, a male and its female

2. Von allen reinen Tieren nimm dir je sieben Paare mit und von allen unreinen Tieren je ein Paar,

3. (and of the birds of heaven, seven pairs, a male and its female), to preserve their species throughout the earth.

3. auch von den Vögeln des Himmels je sieben Männchen und Weibchen, um Nachwuchs auf der ganzen Erde am Leben zu erhalten.

4. For in seven days' time I shall make it rain on earth for forty days and forty nights, and I shall wipe every creature I have made off the face of the earth.'

4. Denn noch sieben Tage dauert es, dann lasse ich es vierzig Tage und vierzig Nächte lang auf die Erde regnen und tilge vom Erdboden alle Wesen, die ich gemacht habe.

5. Noah did exactly as Yahweh commanded him.

5. Noach tat alles, was ihm der Herr aufgetragen hatte.

6. Noah was six hundred years old when the flood came, the waters over the earth.

6. Noach war sechshundert Jahre alt, als die Flut über die Erde kam.

7. Noah with his sons, his wife, and his sons' wives boarded the ark to escape the waters of the flood.

7. Noach ging also mit seinen Söhnen, seiner Frau und den Frauen seiner Söhne in die Arche, bevor das Wasser der Flut kam.

8. (Of the clean animals and the animals that are not clean, of the birds and all that creeps along the ground,

8. Von den reinen und unreinen Tieren, von den Vögeln und allem, was sich auf dem Erdboden regt,

9. one pair boarded the ark with Noah, one male and one female, as God had commanded Noah.)

9. kamen immer zwei zu Noach in die Arche, Männchen und Weibchen, wie Gott dem Noach aufgetragen hatte.

10. Seven days later the waters of the flood appeared on earth.

10. Als die sieben Tage vorbei waren, kam das Wasser der Flut über die Erde,

11. In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, and on the seventeenth day of the month, that very day all the springs of the great deep burst through, and the sluices of heaven opened.

11. im sechshundertsten Lebensjahr Noachs, am siebzehnten Tag des zweiten Monats. An diesem Tag brachen alle Quellen der gewaltigen Urflut auf und die Schleusen des Himmels öffneten sich.

12. And heavy rain fell on earth for forty days and forty nights.

12. Der Regen ergoss sich vierzig Tage und vierzig Nächte lang auf die Erde.

13. That very day Noah and his sons Shem, Ham and Japheth boarded the ark, with Noah's wife and the three wives of his sons,

13. Genau an jenem Tag waren Noach, die Söhne Noachs, Sem, Ham und Jafet, Noachs Frau und mit ihnen die drei Frauen seiner Söhne in die Arche gegangen,

14. and with them every species of wild animal, every species of cattle, every species of creeping things that creep along the ground, every species of bird, everything that flies, everything with wings.

14. sie und alle Arten der Tiere, alle Arten des Viehs und alle Arten der Kriechtiere, die sich auf der Erde regen, und alle Arten der Vögel, des fliegenden Getiers.

15. One pair of all that was alive and had the breath of life boarded the ark with Noah,

15. Sie waren zu Noach in die Arche gekommen, immer zwei von allen Wesen aus Fleisch, in denen Lebensgeist ist.

16. and those that went aboard were a male and female of all that was alive, as God had commanded him. Then Yahweh shut him in.

16. Von allen Tieren waren Männchen und Weibchen gekommen, wie Gott ihm aufgetragen hatte. Dann schloss der Herr hinter ihm zu.

17. The flood lasted forty days on earth. The waters swelled, lifting the ark until it floated off the ground.

17. Die Flut auf der Erde dauerte vierzig Tage. Das Wasser stieg und hob die Arche immer höher über die Erde.

18. The waters rose, swelling higher above the ground, and the ark drifted away over the waters.

18. Das Wasser schwoll an und stieg immer mehr auf der Erde, die Arche aber trieb auf dem Wasser dahin.

19. The waters rose higher and higher above the ground until all the highest mountains under the whole of heaven were submerged.

19. Das Wasser war auf der Erde gewaltig angeschwollen und bedeckte alle hohen Berge, die es unter dem ganzen Himmel gibt.

20. The waters reached their peak fifteen cubits above the submerged mountains.

20. Das Wasser war fünfzehn Ellen über die Berge hinaus angeschwollen und hatte sie zugedeckt.

21. And all living things that stirred on earth perished; birds, cattle, wild animals, all the creatures swarming over the earth, and all human beings.

21. Da verendeten alle Wesen aus Fleisch, die sich auf der Erde geregt hatten, Vögel, Vieh und sonstige Tiere, alles, wovon die Erde gewimmelt hatte, und auch alle Menschen.

22. Everything with the least breath of life in its nostrils, everything on dry land, died.

22. Alles, was auf der Erde durch die Nase Lebensgeist atmete, kam um.

23. Every living thing on the face of the earth was wiped out, people, animals, creeping things and birds; they were wiped off the earth and only Noah was left, and those with him in the ark.

23. Gott vertilgte also alle Wesen auf dem Erdboden, Menschen, Vieh, Kriechtiere und die Vögel des Himmels; sie alle wurden vom Erdboden vertilgt. Übrig blieb nur Noach und was mit ihm in der Arche war.

24. The waters maintained their level on earth for a hundred and fifty days.

24. Das Wasser aber schwoll hundertfünfzig Tage lang auf der Erde an.
