Jéremie, 25

1. La parole qui fut adressée à Jérémie touchant tout le peuple de Juda, en la quatrième année de Joakim, fils de Josias, roi de Juda, -c'était la première année de Nabuchodonosor, roi de Babylone;

1. The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the people of Judah, in the fourth year of Jehoiakim, son of Josiah, king of Judah (the first year of Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon).

2. parole que Jérémie prononça sur tout le peuple de Juda et pour tous les habitants de Jérusalem, en ces termes:

2. This word the prophet Jeremiah spoke to all the people of Judah and all the citizens of Jerusalem:

3. Depuis la treizième année de Josias, fils d'Amon, roi de Juda, jusqu'à ce jour, voici vingt-trois ans que la parole de Yahweh m'a été adressée et que je vous ai parlé, vous parlant dès le matin, et que vous n'avez pas écouté!

3. Since the thirteenth year of Josiah, son of Amon, king of Judah, to this day-these three and twenty years-the word of the LORD has come to me and I spoke to you untiringly, but you would not listen.

4. Yahweh vous a envoyé tous ses serviteurs les prophètes, les envoyant dès le matin, et vous n'avez pas écouté, et vous n'avez pas prêté l'oreille pour entendre.

4. Though you refused to listen or pay heed, the LORD has sent you without fail all his servants the prophets

5. Il di-sait: "Retirez- vous chacun de votre mauvaise voie et de la méchanceté de vos actions, et ainsi vous habiterez d'âge en âge dans le pays que Yahweh a don-né à vous et à vos pères.

5. with this message: Turn back, each of you, from your evil way and from your evil deeds; then you shall remain in the land which the LORD gave you and your fathers, from of old and forever.

6. N'allez pas après d'autres dieux pour les servir et les adorer, ne m'irritez pas par l'ouvrage de vos mains, et je ne vous ferai aucun mal.

6. Do not follow strange gods to serve and adore them, lest you provoke me with your handiwork, and I bring evil upon you.

7. Mais vous ne m'avez pas écouté, dit Yahweh, afin de m'irriter par l'?uvre de vos mains, pour votre malheur.

7. But you would not listen to me, says the LORD, and so you provoked me with your handiwork to your own harm.

8. C'est pourquoi ainsi parle Yahweh des armées: Parce que vous n'avez pas écouté mes paroles,

8. Hence, thus says the LORD of hosts: Since you would not listen to my words,

9. j'enverrai et je prendrai toutes les tribus du septentrion, dit Yahweh, et je les amènerai à Nabu-chodonosor, roi de Babylone, mon servi-teur; je les ferai venir contre ce pays et contre ses habitants, et contre toutes les nations d'alentour; que je frapperai d'anathème, et dont je ferai une solitu-de, un objet de moquerie, une ruine éternelle.

9. lo! I will send for and fetch all the tribes of the north, says the LORD (and I will send to Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, my servant); I will bring them against this land, against its inhabitants, and against all these neighboring nations. I will doom them, making them an object of horror, of ridicule, of everlasting reproach.

10. Je ferai disparaître du milieu d'eux les accents de la joie et la voix de l'allégresse, les chants du fiancé et les chants de la fiancée, le bruit de la meule et la lumière de la lampe.

10. Among them I will bring to an end the song of joy and the song of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the sound of the millstone and the light of the lamp.

11. Tout ce pays sera une solitude, un désert, et ces na-tions seront asservies au roi de Baby-lone pendant soixante-dix ans.

11. This whole land shall be a ruin and a desert. Seventy years these nations shall be enslaved to the king of Babylon;

12. Lorsque ces soixante-dix ans seront accomplis, je ferai rendre compte de leur péché au roi de Babylone et à cette nation, dit Yahweh, et au pays des Chaldéens, et j'en ferai des solitudes éternelles.

12. but when the seventy years have elapsed, I will punish the king of Babylon and the nation and the land of the Chaldeans for their guilt, says the LORD. Their land I will turn into everlasting desert.

13. Je ferai venir sur ce pays toutes les paroles que j'ai prononcées contre lui, tout ce qui est écrit dans ce livre, ce que Jérémie a prophétisé sur toutes les nations.

13. Against that land I will fulfill all the words I have spoken against it (all that is written in this book, which Jeremiah prophesied against all the nations).

14. Car des nations nombreuses et de grands rois les asser-viront, eux aussi, et je leur rendrai selon leurs actions et selon l'?uvre de leurs mains."

14. They also shall be enslaved to great nations and mighty kings, and thus I will repay them according to their own deeds and according to their own handiwork.

15. Car ainsi m'a parlé Yahweh, Dieu d'Israël : Prend de ma main cette coupe du vin de ma colère et fais-la boire à toutes les nations vers lesquelles je t'en verrai.

15. For thus said the LORD, the God of Israel, to me: Take this cup of foaming wine from my hand, and have all the nations to whom I will send you drink it.

16. Elles en boiront, elles chancel-leront, elles seront prises de folie devant l'épée que j'enverrai au milieu d'elles.

16. They shall drink, and be convulsed, and go mad, because of the sword I will send among them.

17. Je pris la coupe des mains de Jého-vah et je la fis boire à toutes les nations vers lesquelles Yahweh m'envoyait:

17. I took the cup from the hand of the LORD and gave drink to all the nations to which the LORD sent me:

18. à Jérusalem et aux villes de Juda, à ses rois, à ses princes, pour en faire une solitude, une désolation, un objet de mo-querie et de malédiction, comme cela se voit aujourd'hui;

18. (Jerusalem, the cities of Judah, her kings and her princes, to make them a ruin and a desert, an object of ridicule and cursing, as they are today;)

19. à Pharaon;roi d'Egyp-te, à ses serviteurs, à Ses princes, à tout son peuple,

19. Pharaoh, king of Egypt, and his servants, his princes, all the people under him, native

20. et à tout le mélange de peuples; à tous les rois du pays de Uts; à tous les rois du pays des Philistins, à Ascalon, Gaza, Accaron et aux restes d'Azoth;

20. and foreign; all the kings of the land of Uz; all the kings of the land of the Philistines: Ashkelon, Gaza, Ekron, and the remnant of Ashdod;

21. à Edom, â Moab et aux fils d'Ammon;

21. Edom, Moab, and the Ammonites;

22. à tous les rois de Tyr, à tous les rois de Sidon, et aux rois des îles qui sont par delà la mer;

22. all the kings of Tyre, of Sidon, and of the shores beyond the sea;

23. à Dédan, à Thérria, à Buz et â tous ceux qui se rasent les tempes;

23. Dedan and Tema and Buz, all the desert dwellers who shave their temples;

24. à tous les rois d'Arabie, à tous les rois des peuples mélangés qui habitent le désert;

24. (all the kings of Arabia;)

25. à tous les rois de Zambri, à tous les rois d'Elam, et à tous les rois de Médie;

25. all the kings of Zimri, of Elam, of the Medes;

26. à tous les rois du septentrion, proches ou éloignés, à l'un comme à l'autre, et à tous les royaumes du monde qui sont sur la face de la terre; et le roi de Sésac boira après eux.

26. all the kings of the north, near and far, one after the other; all the kingdoms upon the face of the earth (and after them the king of Sheshach shall drink).

27. Tu leur diras: Ainsi parle Yahweh des années, Dieu d'Israël: Buvez, enivrez-vous, vomissez et tombez pour ne plus vous relever, devant l'épée que j'envoie au milieu de vous.

27. Tell them: Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Drink! become drunk and vomit; fall, never to rise, before the sword that I will send among you!

28. Et s'ils refusent de prendre de ta main la coupe pour boire, tu leur diras: Ainsi parle Yahweh : Vous boirez!

28. If they refuse to take the cup from your hand and drink, say to them: Thus says the LORD of hosts: You must drink!

29. Car c'est dans la ville sur laquelle mon nom est invoqué que je commence à sévir, et vous seriez impunis?Vous ne serez pas impunis, car j'appelle l'épée sur tous les habitants de la terre, dit Yahweh.

29. For since with this city, which is called by my name, I begin to inflict evil, how can you possibly be spared? You shall not be spared! I will call down the sword upon all who inhabit the earth, says the LORD of hosts.

30. Et toi, tu leur prophétiseras toutes ces choses, et tu leur diras: Yahweh rugit du haut du ciel; De sa demeure sainte il fait retentir sa voix; Il rugit contre son domaine; Il répète à tous les habitants de la terre Le cri des vendangeurs qui foulent le raisin.

30. Prophesy against them all these things and say to them: The LORD roars from on high, from his holy dwelling he raises his voice; Mightily he roars over the range, a shout like that of vintagers over the grapes.

31. Le bruit en est arrivé jusqu'au bout de la terre; Car Yahweh fait le procès à toutes les nations, Il entre en jugement avec toute chair; Il livre les méchants au glaive, dit Yahweh.

31. To all who inhabit the earth to its very ends the uproar spreads; For the LORD has an indictment against the nations, he is to pass judgment upon all mankind: The godless shall be given to the sword, says the LORD.

32. Ainsi parle Yahweh des armées: Voici que le malheur va passer de nation à nation, Une grande tempête s'élève des extrémités de la terre;

32. Thus says the LORD of hosts: Lo! calamity stalks from nation to nation; A great storm is unleashed from the ends of the earth.

33. Et il y aura dés tués de Yahweh en ce jour-là D'un bout à l'autre de la terre; Ils ne seront ni pleurés, ni ramassés, ni enterrés; Ils seront du fumier sur le sol.

33. On that day, those whom the LORD has slain will be strewn from one end of the earth to the other. None will mourn them, none will gather them for burial; they shall lie like dung on the field.

34. Hurlez, pasteurs, et criez; Roulez-vous dans la poussière; chefs du troupeau, Car le temps est venu pour vous d'être égorgés; Je vous disperserai et vous tomberez comme des vases de prix.

34. Howl, you shepherds, and wail! roll in the dust, leaders of the flock! The time for your slaughter has come; like choice rams you shall fall.

35. Plus de retraite pour les pasteurs, Plus de refuge pour les chefs du troupeau.

35. There is no flight for the shepherds, no escape for the leaders of the flock.

36. On entend les cris des pasteurs Et les hurlements des chefs du troupeau, Car Yahweh ravage leur pâturage.

36. Listen! Wailing from the shepherds, howling by the leaders of the flock! For the LORD lays waste their grazing place,

37. Les campagnes paisibles sont, dévastées Par le feu de la colère de Yahweh;

37. desolate lie the peaceful pastures;

38. Il quitte sa retraite, comme un lion son fourré; Leur pays va être désolé par le glaive destructeur, Par le feu de la colère de Yahweh.

38. The lion leaves his lair, and their land is made desolate By the sweeping sword, by the burning wrath of the LORD.
