Isaïe, 48

1. Ecoutez ceci, maison de Jacob, vous qui êtes appelés du non d'Israël, et qui êtes sortis de la source de Juda; vous qui jurez par le nom de Yahweh, et qui célébrez le Dieu d'Israël, mais sans sincérité ni droiture.

1. Hear this, O house of Jacob called by the name Israel, sprung from the stock of Judah, You who swear by the name of the LORD and invoke the God of Israel without sincerity or justice,

2. Car ils tirent leur nom de la ville sainte; et ils s'appuient sur le Dieu d'Israël, dont le nom est Yahweh des armées.

2. Though you are named after the holy city and rely on the God of Israel, whose name is the LORD of hosts.

3. Dès longtemps, j'ai annoncé les premières choses; elles sortirent de ma bouche; je les proclamai ; soudain j'ai agi, et elles sont arrivées.

3. Things of the past I foretold long ago, they went forth from my mouth, I let you hear of them; then suddenly I took action and they came to be.

4. Comme je savais que tu es. dur, que ton cou est une barre de fer; et que ton front est d'airain, je t'ai annoncé tes choses il y a longtemps;

4. Because I know that you are stubborn and that your neck is an iron sinew and your forehead bronze,

5. je te les ai déclarées avant qu'elles n'arrivent, de peur que tu ne dises ; "Mon idole les a faites ; mon dieu de bois ou de fonte les a ordonnées."

5. I foretold them to you of old; before they took place I let you hear of them, That you might not say, "My idol did them, my statue, my molten image commanded them."

6. Tu l'as entendu ; vois, tout s'est accompli ; mais vous, ne le déclarerez-vous pas? Maintenant, je te fais entendre des choses nouvelles; cachées, que tu ne connais point.

6. Now that you have heard, look at all this; must you not admit it? From now on I announce new things to you, hidden events of which you knew not.

7. C'est maintenant qu'elles sont créées, et non auparavant; jusqu'à ce jour, tu n'en avais point entendu parler, de peur que tu ne dises : "Voici, je le savais !"

7. Now, not long ago, they are brought into being, and beforetime you did not hear of them, so that you cannot claim to have known them;

8. Tu n'en as rien entendu, tu n'en as rien su ; jamais ton oreille n'en a rien perçu, parce que je savais que tu es fout à fait infidèle, que ton nom est Prévaricateur dès le sein de ta mère.

8. You neither heard nor knew, they did not reach your ears beforehand. Yes, I know you are utterly treacherous, a rebel you were called from birth.

9. A cause de mon nom, je retiens ma colère, et à cause de ma gloire, je patiente avec toi, pour ne pas t'exterminer.

9. For the sake of my name I restrain my anger, for the sake of my renown I hold it back from you, lest I should destroy you.

10. Voici, je t'ai fondu, mais sans obtenir l'argent; je t'ai éprouvé au creuset de l'affliction.

10. See, I have refined you like silver, tested you in the furnace of affliction.

11. C'est pour l'amour de moi, pour l'amour de moi que je le fais ; car comment mon nom serai t-il profané? Je ne donnerai pas ma gloire à un autre.

11. For my sake, for my own sake, I do this; why should I suffer profanation? My glory I will not give to another.

12. Ecoute-moi, Jacob, et toi, Israël, que j'ai appelé; C'est moi, moi qui suis le premier, moi aussi qui suis le dernier.

12. Listen to me, Jacob, Israel, whom I named! I, it is I who am the first, and also the last am I.

13. C'est aussi ma main qui a fondé la terre; et ma droite qui a étendu les cieux ; c'est moi qui les appelle, et aussitôt ils se présentent.

13. Yes, my hand laid the foundations of the earth; my right hand spread out the heavens. When I call them, they stand forth at once.

14. Assemblez-vous tous et écoutez: qui d'entre eux a annoncé ces choses? -- Celui qu'aime Yahweh accomplira sa volonté dans Babel, et son bras sera contre les Chaldéens. --

14. All of you assemble and listen: Who among you foretold these things? The LORD'S friend shall do his will against Babylon and the progeny of Chaldea.

15. Moi, moi, j'ai parlé, et je l'ai appelé ; je l'ai fait venir, et sa voie sera prospère.

15. I myself have spoken, I have called him, I have brought him, and his way succeeds!

16. Approchez-vous de moi, entendez ceci: Dès l'origine je n'ai point parlé en cachette ; depuis que ces choses arrivent, je suis là; -- Et maintenant le Seigneur Yahweh m'envoie avec son Esprit. --

16. Come near to me and hear this! Not from the beginning did I speak it in secret; At the time it comes to pass, I am present: "Now the Lord GOD has sent me, and his spirit."

17. Ainsi parle Yahweh, ton rédempteur, le Saint d'Israël: Moi, Yahweh, ton Dieu, le t'enseigne pour ton bien, je te conduis dans le chemin où tu dois marcher.

17. Thus says the LORD, your redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: I, the LORD, your God, teach you what is for your good, and lead you on the way you should go.

18. Oh ! sois attentif à mes commandements, et ta paix sera comme un fleuve, ta justice comme les flots de la mer;

18. If you would hearken to my commandments, your prosperity would be like a river, and your vindication like the waves of the sea;

19. ta postérité sera comme le sable et le fruit de tes entrailles comme les grains de sable; son nom ne sera ni retranché ni effacé devant moi.

19. Your descendants would be like the sand, and those born of your stock like its grains, Their name never cut off or blotted out from my presence.

20. Sortez de Babylone, fuyez les Chaldéens avec des cris de joie! Publiez-le, proclamez-le, faites-le savoir jusqu'à l'extrémité de la terre ! Dites : "Yahweh a racheté son serviteur Jacob !

20. Go forth from Babylon, flee from Chaldea! With shouts of joy proclaim this, make it known; Publish it to the ends of the earth, and say, "The LORD has redeemed his servant Jacob.

21. Ils n'ont pas soif dans le désert où il les a conduits ; Il fait couler pour eux l'eau du rocher; Il fend le rocher, et les eaux jaillissent !"

21. They did not thirst when he led them through dry lands; Water from the rock he set flowing for them; he cleft the rock, and waters welled forth."

22. Il n'y a point de paix pour les méchants, dit Yahweh.

22. (There is no peace for the wicked, says the LORD.)
