1. Si tu vois le boeuf ou la brebis de ton frèreégarés dans les champs, tu ne t'endétourneras point, mais tu les ramèneras àton frère.

1. "You shall not see your kinsman's ox or sheep driven astray without showing concern about it; see to it that it is returned to your kinsman.

2. Si ton frère n'habite pas près de toi et que tune le connaisses pas, tu recueilleras l'animal dans ta maison, etil restera chez toi jusqu'à ce que ton frère lerecherche, et alors tu le lui rendras.

2. If this kinsman does not live near you, or you do not know who he may be, take it to your own place and keep it with you until he claims it; then give it back to him.

3. Tu feras de même pour son âne, et tu feras demême pour son manteau, et tu feras de même pour toutobjet perdu, que ton frère aurait perdu et que tutrouverais; tu ne dois pas t'en détourner.

3. You shall do the same with his ass, or his garment, or anything else which your kinsman loses and you happen to find; you may not be unconcerned about them.

4. Si tu vois l'âne de ton frère ou son boeufs'abattre dans le chemin, tu ne t'en détourneras point; tune manqueras pas de l'aider à les relever.

4. You shall not see your kinsman's ass or ox foundering on the road without showing concern about it; see to it that you help him lift it up.

5. Une femme ne portera pas un habit d'homme, et un homme nemettra point un vêtement de femme; car quiconque fait ceschoses est en abomination à Yahweh, ton Dieu.

5. "A woman shall not wear an article proper to a man, nor shall a man put on a woman's dress; for anyone who does such things is an abomination to the LORD, your God.

6. Si tu rencontres dans ton chemin un nid d'oiseau, sur un arbreou sur la terre, avec des petits ou des oeufs, et la mèrecouchée sur les petits ou sur les oeufs, tu ne prendraspas la mère avec les petits;

6. "If, while walking along, you chance upon a bird's nest with young birds or eggs in it, in any tree or on the ground, and the mother bird is sitting on them, you shall not take away the mother bird along with her brood;

7. tu ne prendras pour toi que les petits, afin que tu soisheureux et que tu prolonges tes jours.

7. you shall let her go, although you may take her brood away. It is thus that you shall have prosperity and a long life.

8. Quand tu bâtiras une maison neuve, tu feras unebalustrade autour de ton toit, afin de ne pas mettre du sang surta maison, dans le cas où quelqu'un viendrait àtomber de là.

8. "When you build a new house, put a parapet around the roof; otherwise, if someone falls off, you will bring bloodguilt upon your house.

9. Tu n'ensemenceras pas ta vigne de deux sortes de semences; depeur que le tout ne soit déclaré chose sainte, etla graine que tu as semée, et le produit de la vigne.

9. "You shall not sow your vineyard with two different kinds of seed; if you do, its produce shall become forfeit, both the crop you have sown and the yield of the vineyard.

10. Tu ne laboureras pas avec un boeuf et un âneattelés ensemble.

10. You shall not plow with an ox and an ass harnessed together.

11. Tu ne porteras pas un vêtement d'un tissumélangé de laine et de lin réunisensemble.

11. You shall not wear cloth of two different kinds of thread, wool and linen, woven together.

12. Tu feras des glands aux quatre coins du vêtement dont tute couvriras.

12. "You shall put twisted cords on the four corners of the cloak that you wrap around you.

13. Si un homme, après avoir pris une femme et êtreallé vers elle, vient à éprouver pour ellede l'aversion,

13. "If a man, after marrying a woman and having relations with her, comes to dislike her,

14. et lui impute des choses déshonorantes et porteatteinte à sa réputation, en disant: «J'aipris cette femme et, quand je suis venu vers elle, je ne l'ai pastrouvée vierge»,

14. and makes monstrous charges against her and defames her by saying, 'I married this woman, but when I first had relations with her I did not find her a virgin,'

15. le père et la mère de la jeune femme prendrontles signes de sa virginité, et les produiront devant lesanciens de la ville, à la porte.

15. the father and mother of the girl shall take the evidence of her virginity and bring it to the elders at the city gate.

16. Le père de la jeune fille dira aux anciens: «J'aidonné ma fille pour femme à cet homme et, l'ayantprise en aversion,

16. There the father of the girl shall say to the elders, 'I gave my daughter to this man in marriage, but he has come to dislike her,

17. il lui impute des choses déshonorantes en disant: Jen'ai pas trouvé ta fille vierge. Or voici les signes devirginité de ma fille.» Et ils déploierontson vêtement devant les anciens de la ville.

17. and now brings monstrous charges against her, saying: I did not find your daughter a virgin. But here is the evidence of my daughter's virginity!' And they shall spread out the cloth before the elders of the city.

18. Alors les anciens de la ville saisiront cet homme et lechâtieront;

18. Then these city elders shall take the man and chastise him,

19. en outre, ils lui imposeront une amende de cent siclesd'argent, qu'ils donneront au père de la jeune femme, pouravoir porté atteinte à la réputation d'unevierge d'Israël. Elle restera sa femme, et il ne pourra pasla renvoyer, tant qu'il vivra.

19. besides fining him one hundred silver shekels, which they shall give to the girl's father, because the man defamed a virgin in Israel. Moreover, she shall remain his wife, and he may not divorce her as long as he lives.

20. Mais si ce fait est vrai et que la jeune femme ne soit pastrouvée vierge,

20. "But if this charge is true, and evidence of the girl's virginity is not found,

21. on fera sortir la jeune femme à l'entrée de lamaison de son père, et elle sera lapidée par lesgens de sa ville, jusqu'à ce qu'elle meure, parce qu'ellea commis une infamie en Israël, en se prostituant dans lamaison de son père. Tu ôteras ainsi le mal du milieude toi.

21. they shall bring the girl to the entrance of her father's house and there her townsmen shall stone her to death, because she committed a crime against Israel by her unchasteness in her father's house. Thus shall you purge the evil from your midst.

22. Si l'on trouve un homme couché avec une femmemariée, ils mourront tous deux, l'homme qui acouché avec la femme, et la femme aussi. Tu ôterasainsi le mal du milieu d'Israël.

22. "If a man is discovered having relations with a woman who is married to another, both the man and the woman with whom he has had relations shall die. Thus shall you purge the evil from your midst.

23. Si une jeune fille vierge est fiancée àquelqu'un, et qu'un homme la rencontre dans la ville et coucheavec elle,

23. "If within the city a man comes upon a maiden who is betrothed, and has relations with her,

24. vous les amènerez tous deux à la porte de laville, et vous les lapiderez, jusqu'à ce qu'ils meurent:la jeune fille pour n'avoir pas crié dans la ville, etl'homme pour avoir déshonoré la femme de sonprochain. Tu ôteras ainsi le mal du milieu de toi.

24. you shall bring them both out to the gate of the city and there stone them to death: the girl because she did not cry out for help though she was in the city, and the man because he violated his neighbor's wife. Thus shall you purge the evil from your midst.

25. Mais si c'est dans les champs que cet homme rencontre la jeunefille fiancée, et qu'il lui fasse violence et couche avecelle, l'homme qui aura couché avec elle mourra seul.

25. "If, however, it is in the open fields that a man comes upon such a betrothed maiden, seizes her and has relations with her, the man alone shall die.

26. Tu ne feras rien à la jeune fille; il n'y a pas en ellede crime digne de mort, car c'est comme lorsqu'un homme se jettesur son prochain et le tue;

26. You shall do nothing to the maiden, since she is not guilty of a capital offense. This case is like that of a man who rises up against his neighbor and murders him:

27. le cas est le même. L'homme l'a rencontrée dansles champs, la jeune fille fiancée a crié, mais iln'y avait personne pour la secourir.

27. it was in the open fields that he came upon her, and though the betrothed maiden may have cried out for help, there was no one to come to her aid.

28. Si un homme rencontre une jeune fille vierge nonfiancée, la saisit et couche avec elle, et qu'ils soientsurpris,

28. "If a man comes upon a maiden that is not betrothed, takes her and has relations with her, and their deed is discovered,

29. l'homme qui a couché avec elle donnera au pèrede la jeune fille cinquante sicles d'argent, et elle sera safemme, parce qu'il l'a déshonorée, il ne pourra pasla renvoyer, tant qu'il vivra.

29. the man who had relations with her shall pay the girl's father fifty silver shekels and take her as his wife, because he has deflowered her. Moreover, he may not divorce her as long as he lives.

30. Nul ne prendra la femme de son père et nesoulèvera la couverture du lit de son père.
